Netflix: Miracle - Boys of 80
Well, if you thought the movie Miracle was good, you ain't seen nothing yet.
Check out the new drop on Netflix...Miracle - Boys of 80. Predominantly player focused with Brooks' kids filling in the blanks there.
Lots of backstories straight from the players' mouths. And in the end, a wish to have connected with their coach. Which never materialized. Also a great story about Eruzione's uncle that will leave a mark.
Enjoy.

Awesome. Thanks for the heads up. Going to watch it now. I can't get enough info about that team. BTW, I know this isn't movie watch forum. But, if you get a chance, watch the documentary Secret Mall Apartment. It's about this group of people that find this dead space at a mall and live there undetected for four years. It's newly released on Netflix.John Cocktoastin wrote: ↑30 Jan 2026 21:01 pm Well, if you thought the movie Miracle was good, you ain't seen nothing yet.

Hey, Jedi. I did see the trailer for that one. Will watch. With rents and property taxes these days, not surprised people would.move into a mall...

JC, I just started Miracle. It's heartbreaking seeing how those guys have aged. You can still tell who they are though

Jedi - aged, but still got it. They're hilarious. But some of their stories get you. Especially about their parents.

I haven't gotten to that point in the documentary. Don't know if they touch on it. The Mark Pavalich story has always bothered me....even before he passed. He's the only player that never came back for reunions. They say he probably had CTE.

No. Pavelich's story isn't featured. Troubling for sure.

Absolutely phenomenal. I've seen every movie and documentary about that team. This was the best I've seen. I wish they would create a DVD set of all the games. It's a bummer that Pav is gone, but also Ken Dryden, Mark Wells, Bob Suter and Herb. I was neighbors with a retired dentist who is friends with and hunts with Bill Baker, who is a retired oral surgeon. He says Bill is a great guy. Thanks for letting us know about this JC.
Another cool movie is Red Army. Slava Festisov talks about the game and brings his smoking hot daughter back to Lake Placid to show her around. I remember as a kid hating Russia because of invading Afghanistan and just being scared of them. However, I always liked and respected the hockey team.

I was 13 when this happened and like most my age, watched every documentary movie and read just found any book about it. It was so cool to watch that when it happened. I was kind of surprised that they didn’t talk more about how her Brooks revolution is the game over here. The hockey being played now in the league is very similar to his hybrid system.

My favorite piece of hockey memorabilia is a framed, autographed picture of the famous celebration scene after the game. I swear that my son won’t be all that upset when I die because I already told him that he will inherit that!
Hard to believe it has been 46 years.

Jedi - I'm going to track down Red Army. Thanks for the recommendation.
Talk about respect, not sure if anyone caught it, but watch the faces of the Soviet team and the Fins during the medal ceremony. You can see them taking in the moment, leaning around each other to see the boys receive their medals. Some were even smiling, which took me aback. I think they were all in awe of what just went down. Total shock throughout.
Really cool stuff.

I have the picture of Jack O'Callahan sitting on Mike Ramsey celebrating. It makes me smile everytime I look at it.Frank Underwood wrote: ↑31 Jan 2026 08:02 am My favorite piece of hockey memorabilia is a framed, autographed picture of the famous celebration scene after the game. I think all of the Russian players were thinking how fun American was and wishing they could live here.John Cocktoastin wrote: ↑31 Jan 2026 08:33 am Jedi - I'm going to track down Red Army. Thanks for the recommendation.

I was fortunate enough to see the 1980 Olympic team play the Blues in September 1979 in Des Moines.John Cocktoastin wrote: ↑30 Jan 2026 21:01 pm Well, if you thought the movie Miracle was good, you ain't seen nothing yet.

Enjoy.
It was in a tiny rink surrounded by bleachers.
I didn’t pay much attention to the Olympic team.
It was also the first time I saw the Blues live living here in Iowa.
It was a great experience that I’ll never forget.
I remember thinking how old some of the players looked.
Bernie Ferderko was a young stud at that time.
As the players were leaving the ice, we yelled Bernie’s name.
He got out of the line, straightened his Jersey, and let us take a picture of him.

Wow that is so cool. I played at that rink a few times in the mid 80s. I can imagine how cool it would have been to see a pro game thereiowa blues fan wrote: ↑31 Jan 2026 09:25 amI was fortunate enough to see the 1980 Olympic team play the Blues in September 1979 in Des Moines.John Cocktoastin wrote: ↑30 Jan 2026 21:01 pm Well, if you thought the movie Miracle was good, you ain't seen nothing yet.

Awesome, Iowa. Never met Bernie, other than seeing him at my local gas station. Funny - you talk about how old those players looked back then. Bernie doesn't seem to age!fish wrote: ↑31 Jan 2026 10:08 amWow that is so cool. I played at that rink a few times in the mid 80s.
