I wouldn't draft Matthew Schaeffer
I wouldn't draft Matthew Schaeffer BECAUSE HE DOESN'T FIT INTO OUR CORE AGE GROUP.
Isn't this a RIDICULOUS STATEMENT?
This "hockey smarts" is exactly what Army and many St Louis hockey writers/broadcasters are telling us when they say that Army "wants players not picks because he wants players in the same age group as Dvorsky and Snuggerud and the rest".

Re: I wouldn't draft Matthew Schaeffer
That is quite a reach on your part... that is a long long way from A to B & makes no sense
They are already pretty much assured of a top 5 pick in the draft- that's what everybody wants right??

Serious question....A resort I will be staying at in the Dominican has a Mediterranean restaurant....What type of food is that really?
Is it spicy? The place has an Italian, Mexican, Surf and turf (Steak), French and Japanese restaurants.....along with a Mediterranean.
I not a fine dining conoisseur, except for enjoying the taste of the various foods I like.
Just curious.
You see, I'm trying to learn something useful instead of reading the nutbags drivel that is just too stupid to comment on.

Re: I wouldn't draft Matthew Schaeffer
I believe that the fans want and expect a top 5 pick.
I believe that the Blues never want a top 5 pick--not even this year. The Blues do not leverage the NHL draft like every other team for 20 years, and I believe that we will see that play out again in 2026. The Blues push away their high draft pick, while the other NHL teams are happy to oblige them.
The "players not picks" discussion that we are hearing now from the Blues reflects that SAME THINKING by the Blues. Why don't the Blues want picks in return for Schenn, Thomas, and Kyrou? Why do they want players instead? It doesn't make sense. The Blues are missing elite players, and OPTION A to solve this problem for them is via trade, not the NHL draft.
I've been predicting for the last couple months that even though the Blues deserve it and need it, they will spoil their TOP5 draft position some how some way. I would bet that we draft no higher than 10 in 2026.
We shall see.

My grass is covered in 2’ of snow. Except a 10x10 patch I cleared for the dog.

Anybody that thinks that ignoring anyone is a smart idea is too dumb to understand me. Guaranteed.wiscrev wrote: ↑29 Jan 2026 10:10 amBest to just put him on ignore! Smelly needs to stop whining. The Blues are on track for a top 5 pick exactly like he said he wanted and he's still b*chting.
Army's already on his way out.

Re: I wouldn't draft Matthew Schaeffer
This is the easiest prediction that I have ever made....
Rookie Steen will be nothing but an AI version of "What would Doug Armstrong do?".
Re: I wouldn't draft Matthew Schaeffer
Army: *offers trade for Dobson
Dobson: "I only want to play for an Eastern team and will only sign long term with an East Coast team"
Islanders: *trade Dobson because they won the draft lottery, moving them from their position of 10th worst in the standings to 1st OA pick, allowing them to select Schaeffer to be their #1D.

Re: I wouldn't draft Matthew Schaeffer
Just because the Blues win a couple of games does NOT mean that we are throwing away our top 5 pick.
There is only one team in the East that we MIGHT finish ahead of and only Vancouver and Calgary in the West- maybe CHI.
So the worst case scenario is we finish with the 5th WORST record.
Best case is probably the 2nd worst trailing only Vancouver....
Either scenario between the 2nd or 5th pick is fine with me.

Re: I wouldn't draft Matthew Schaeffer
If only Army could have foreseen that Schaeffer was way more of a prize than Dobson. Army never thinks about the NHL draft--except to scoff at it. He likes trades, free agents, and waivers instead.zamadoo wrote: ↑29 Jan 2026 17:38 pm Army: *offers trade for Dobson

Re: I wouldn't draft Matthew Schaeffer
Let's be honest-
The Isles were EXTREMELY LUCKY to win the lottery in spite of finishing with just the 10th worst record. That is probably the first AND last time that will ever happen.
So that just goes to show you that you can STILL win the lotto even with the 10th pick in the 1st round.....
So many times the order of the top 5 picks and which players are picked 1-10, leaves a player available who may not have been a team's first choice but ends up being a superstar....
There is a certain randomness to the draft...
Just think if Dallas had picked Makar instead of Heiskanen. Colorado might still be looking for their first CUP. Both are great players, but Makar is at another level...

If it's all inclusive, I'd just say "Yes please" to all the above. We're going back to Cabo in July, Tacos Guss is the best taco joint on the planet.Bubble4427 wrote: ↑29 Jan 2026 08:45 am Serious question....A resort I will be staying at in the Dominican has a Mediterranean restaurant....What type of food is that really?

Does Cabo have all inclusive resorts? I didn’t think they were known for that. Beach and waves….for sure.TAFKAP wrote: ↑31 Jan 2026 14:39 pmIf it's all inclusive, I'd just say "Yes please" to all the above. Oh yeah, I rarely do it though because town is cool, food and drink is incredible. Most of your true Caribbean style all inclusives are in the tourist corridor. Except for Sandos Finisterra. If I'm doing AI, that's where I'm at. Pacific side, but right down the hill from everything. I like the Pacific side, I don't ocean swim anyway so watching 10-20ft shorebreak waves slam into the sand is a great pleasure of mine. The sound is very relaxing.Bubble4427 wrote: ↑31 Jan 2026 15:45 pmDoes Cabo have all inclusive resorts? I didn’t think they were known for that.
