Red Wings seeking No. 2 center and right-shot defenseman at trade deadline

Army and Yzerman are friends and have done business together in the past. Detroit has an abundance of prospect talent, which is what the Blues want as opposed to draft picks. I don't believe the Blues are super serious about trading our franchise center, but you never know. Thomas is a 2C+, young and cost controlled. Faulk is a right-handed defenseman that still has term. He's playing the best hockey in years and he's from Michigan. The stars are aligned for this trade. Yzerman needs to make some noise in the playoffs this year. I'm excited about the potential return.

Yes please. Especially Danielson. I didn't think Faulk could land a guy like that, but wouldn't it be something to move both Thomas and Faulk to DET?

That would be too massive of a trade - we would deplete the Red Wings farm system. I’d have to think Kasper, Danielson, one of Bear/MBN, and one of Cossa/Augustine would have to be part of the package.

ASP would be my blue chip defensive piece from them in a Thomas package if it went that way instead. That was a heck of a pick too

That's a fair consideration. But from what I've been reading, they are kind of bottlenecked and need to thin out. We could send them back some draft picks (not our first or second) plus a prospect that isn't quite ready for making the jump next year if needed.

Yep that is the guy I would like to have from them as well.

You're not gonna get Cossa, they have a lot of time invested in the kid. it's gonna be Gibson/Cossa tandem most likely next year.

Faulk maybe, but I would think they like the grit and "playing on the edge" that Kadri would bring, and they would only be locked in with him for 3 more years. And while the term and cap hit are more, the Rangers are tearing it down. Zibanejad has to be in play as well, although he has a full NMC, which may be a turnoff for Detroit. Always lots of smoke with the Blues on these types of deals and then another team swoops in for the haul. I expect more of the same. Faulk and Kadri if I'm a betting man.

There's just no way Thomas is getting traded for prospects.

If he's traded he's returning a bonafide NHLer.

Looks like a smallish 2nd round center. Admittedly, know nothing about him. What do you like about a 5'11' 175lb center? Does he have something exceptional he does like skating, vision, shot, etc...? I know he won't have them all or else he'd be in the NHL, but what do you like about him?

I would be really disappointed with that return. The guy is 180lb soaking wet. I want this roster to get bigger in the top 6; not smaller.

He’s a winger and a goal scorer.
