For ol' smelly to be "right", let's fully clarify.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑27 Jan 2026 23:49 pm It was deflected. If you want to blame someone for that goal, it falls on the center. First, as someone else said, it does seem like the Blues NEVER win close and late faceoffs in their own end. But, if you're going to lose it, and least do something to try and prevent them from winning a perfect assist back to the point. Their Dman didn't even have to move to accept that.
You couldn't have intentionally passed that puck more perfectly. That's pretty much been the Blues entire season.
Hey, maybe ol' smelly is right and fate has aligned the stars for the Blues to nab the #1 overall pick. Perhaps destiny will allow McKenna or the Stenberg brothers to lead the Blues to glory for the next 15 years.![]()
- The Blues roster needs elite players, especially at 1C and RHD QB. They have had nothing close for years.
- The ONLY WAY to get young elite 1C and RHD is via the NHL draft.
- Army is BELOW AVERAGE at bringing in talent via the NHL draft, and he needs to pick HIGH to have any chance at bringing in elite talent.
- Army is UNPROVEN regarding the NHL draft. Drafting HIGH is the only time when the value of the scouting dept can be truly evaluated, and Army has not drafted HIGH in 20 years.
- Army and the Blues actively sabotage their chances of getting HIGH picks across many years. The best pick that we have had in 20 years is #10 in 2023. No franchise is as adept as the Blues at winning meaningless regular season games in March.
- Re-whatever 1.0 accomplished very little towards a CUP roster. The best under-23 players in the NHL are NOT on the Blues roster. That's the whole purpose of a re-whatever!!! Why did other teams NOT IN RE-WHATEVER MODE bring in better talent than the Blues?
- Re-whatever 2.0 may accomplish even less unless the approach changes.

obviously never played the position.. deflections are very hard to trackJeff Goldblum wrote: ↑28 Jan 2026 09:00 amHe's a professional goaltender playing in the best league in the world making millions of dollars. Funny Hofer doesn't seem to have so many issues with deflections. Every time binnington loses it's because 7 pucks were deflected past him.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑28 Jan 2026 09:09 amobviously never played the position.. deflections are very hard to trackJeff Goldblum wrote: ↑28 Jan 2026 09:00 amHe's a professional goaltender playing in the best league in the world making millions of dollars. Why don't you try doing that, Puppet-boy? It will be harder that you think.Jeff Goldblum wrote: ↑27 Jan 2026 22:13 pmWho's tantruming? we have the rangers and flames hunting the second pick dropping like a rock we didn't want a point. we need the highest end talent possible we need regulation losses, there are only 29 games left.
Re: GDT: Stars at Blues 7:00 ESPN+ Hulu
He's had a bad year. That does not mean every single goal that goes in is his fault. Pointing out why one might not have been is not a defense of his entire body of work.stlblue06 wrote: ↑27 Jan 2026 22:50 pm I’m pretty amazed that there are people that are actually defending Binnington right now. You either want a good draft pick so bad that you are relieved the Blues didn’t get a point or you are in some ways associated with the Blues.
He’s so indefensible and those that are playing a role to keep trotting him out there must be feeling guilty for ruining the Blues season. So maybe they found their way to this forum. I know it’s far fetched but I don’t see how you can defend that slop

Oettinger allowed one less goal than Binny. Wish we could score more goals "once" in a while.

Thanks for that clarification. It's happened in the recent past, so maybe they changed the rules.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑28 Jan 2026 07:27 amIn the NHL you cannot drop from #1 to #10, at #1 you can only fall to #3. I think I will quit playing and leave on a winning NOTE. (pun intended)
I've mentioned before, but the way it's kind of working out for the Blues reminds me of how COL jumped around from good to horrible year after year while they drafted their top guys. We picked #10, we made the playoffs, now we're likely picking top 10 again. It's still possible the team once again wins a lot to end the season, but I think they're too far gone to make the playoffs at this point, having lost their last 5 and gone 2-7-1 in their last 10.
Really hoping at least one deal is made before the TDL.
Right now the Blues have a 14% chance at 1 or two they have a 30% chance at #3 and almost 40% at #4.
Re: GDT: Stars at Blues 7:00 ESPN+ Hulu
It was encouraging to see them battle back and play well in the third- until they didn't. Some of these guys are going to be here next year- especially the young guys. The inability to close out games just happens too often to not be related to training and practices. Add that to the inability to enter the Ozone and to clear our Dzone.
I still want to see coaching changes.
