I think sending Stenberg down was a bad move. Hes gonna get some AHL games. Maybe NHL games would be better. Maybe a rest would be better.
Id like to see him play the next 4 or 5 and then get a break and finish the season here.
I dont need to see Fabbri. I really dont.
I like Berggren--he seems incredibly frail though. Id rather see Peterson get a shot and move Dvorsky to second center. Put Buch back on the wing.
Leave Stenberg in the lineup. Dump Fabbri. Lets get this rebuild going. Why we playing games with this lineup? Bjug could move up to 3rd center for now. Peterson as 4th. Let the guys get experience. This year is a bust. Why do we need to see Fabbri?

Re: GDT: Stars at Blues 7:00 ESPN+ Hulu
Berggren as a Blue has been the opposite of frail. He hasn't played to his reputation in detroit as soft. He's been in on the check, skates fast, and has been willing to lay a hit from time to time. I think it might have been game 4 or 5 where he got the bench that the Blues fired the warning shot that they didn't want to see those tendencies come back. My question for him is why he isn't shooting? He has a 17.6 percent shot percentage, he's not taking chances.BluesDom wrote: ↑27 Jan 2026 13:33 pm I think sending Stenberg down was a bad move. Stenberg needs to play as much as possible, and right now thats with the AHL roster. The Blues have to decide who they are keeping along for the ride. They get to make that choice in the next month before the trade deadline assuming there's anyone willing to take pieces. But they need the time to see who is even going to be playing hockey this year because the injury bug is about as bad as it's ever been here.
Re: GDT: Stars at Blues 7:00 ESPN+ Hulu
I see Berggren get picked on. I like him. Hes a nice player. I question him though. He takes a lot of shots/cheap shots. Doesnt seem like he can handle it. It would be awesome if he does. Hope he proves me wrong.callitwhatyouwant wrote: ↑27 Jan 2026 13:37 pmBerggren as a Blue has been the opposite of frail. He hasn't played to his reputation in detroit as soft. Re: GDT: Stars at Blues 7:00 ESPN+ Hulu
You make some good points. 20 year old Stenberg gets the chance to go down to the newly restructured Thunderbirds and likely dominate while playing top minutes and continuing to learn the NA game and growing as a player. He is truly a great player, and I can't wait to see whose spot he replaces later on down the road. Looking forward to the report on him with Stancl, Pekarcik, Dean, and Lindstein.
I like Fabbri and what he's brought since his signing. I'd keep him over Walker if I could, or would assign him to Springfield as a first call up in case of injury type, extending him into next season.
Berggren and Stenberg are very similar players, in both what they bring on the ice and # on the jersey... I like having Berggren in the lineup, and you're right, we get further evaluation on some of these guys. Other teams get further evaluation on players they might have interest in acquiring before the TDL.

Yea, I aint saying he's a lock for a resign. I just don't see the direct "softness" that was reported out of Detroits camp. It will be curious to see if he gets extended. Stenberg looks better than him. Carbs definitely has more top end skill. There is nothing he does that is "stand out". To me that's a dangerous spot to be in unless you are a bottom 6 guy which he isn't.BluesDom wrote: ↑27 Jan 2026 13:42 pmI see Berggren get picked on. I like him. Hes a nice player. Players sent to the AHL for the Olympic break have to be designated by Feb 4 so he is only missing potentially 3 games. There are a bunch of rules about who can and can't be sent down.BluesDom wrote: ↑27 Jan 2026 13:33 pm I think sending Stenberg down was a bad move. Hes gonna get some AHL games. Stupid question--Who is Rouzy?
https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/st-louis- ... day-lineup
Jim Montgomery: (QUOTE IN LOU KORACS ARTICLE TODAY) “I think ‘Buchy’s been incredible at center,” Montgomery said. “I think his draws have been fantastic. He’s been able to use his vision a lot more to create time and space. Good entries and good forechecks and I think ‘Rouzy’s been really skating. This has been the longest stretch of ‘Rouzy’ here, I think it’s seven or eight games here, I would say he’s had one average game and the other ones are him skating, putting people on their heels, stripping people from behind. That goal where he fakes and he does the wraparound, that’s the ‘Rouzy’ that St. Louis Blues fans and us coaches and teammates love to see.”

These decisions on who to keep are a bit overblown. There's a sizable group of players who may contribute via some role or another but in the big picture NONE of them are going to move the needle. First, you keep the young guys with talent. Second, you keep the guys you need to keep contractually. Third, you keep guys you have to have for positional/role depth to keep a viable team on the ice. The rest, well, you could put the names in a hat.TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑27 Jan 2026 14:28 pmGood post and spot on.callitwhatyouwant wrote: ↑27 Jan 2026 13:37 pmBerggren as a Blue has been the opposite of frail. Re: GDT: Stars at Blues 7:00 ESPN+ Hulu
I genuinely hope that 1 of Dvo, Buchy, Kyrou or all of them find some streak here. I don't mind the winning and losing at this point. It is what it is. I want to see some guys find streaks of success. If kyrou ever figured out how to become a guy that puts up points in 7 or 8 of 10 games. He would become the guy we all think he could be, because we know he will explode in a couple games. His issue has always been the back to backs without generating a point. And in this case he had the ole 9 gamer without a goal. Buchy has done the same this year.
