John Kelly. on Kings feed, what a blunder F

Re: John Kelly. on Kings feed, what a blunder F
I too broadcasted hockey for a few years on radio and played for 35 years. There's no question Kerber doesn't follow the play well. Until the simulcast I wasn't aware of this. Never listened to his PBP while watching TV previously. My take is he's OK for TV because you can see what's going on regardless. When it comes to radio he just doesn't have the chops. It's a tough sport to broadcast. You have to speak in shorthand to keep up.

Really? The same 6 people starting thread after thread over this is some kind of indication that the region doesn't care for it?11WSChamps wrote: ↑26 Jan 2026 15:51 pmThey should have hired someone off the street then.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑26 Jan 2026 15:43 pmNo that's not what I said. Can you tell another company who to hire and who to let go? Can you just pay another company to keep an employee?
That's not how the world works. As has been shown with both the Blues and the Cards, they get a say in who is hired and who isn't but it ultimately comes down to the actual employer, in this case the company that is about to become insolvent.
That's how this world works.
Does Kerbers time not matter just because his father wasn't a TV broadcaster for us?
If you can actually follow the play and have any idea what's going on during the broadcast your either psychic or you wouldn't have a clue in the first place.
In your way of thinking anybody should be given a chance to do play by play.
THe only way he got this job is by knowing the right people it sure as hell wasn't on talent.
I have no problems whatsoever following the game with his call, if others can't so be it. The hand wringing though at this point is completely out of control. It's done, he's gone, like he left before.
I've been listening to broadcasters and been one myself for several decades and the current crew is a disservice to a long standing fan base which deserves better.
The comments here easily bears that out.
Sorry you can't tell the difference.
If STLtoday didn't erase threads I could show you several more that stated they *I'm quoting them* hated his contrived "Thank You, Thank You, Thank You* how they would mute the tv and listen to the game on the radio but it was always difficult because of the time delay on the tv. That they hated Pangers "Ole Nine o' Hearts" his cheesiness.
I mean I could go on, but there's no need to because I didn't agree with their opinions either. I always enjoyed JK calling the game, but I enjoy Kerbs as well. I don't need my hand held to watch a game, and Kerbs game call is universe's better than many of the others who call games around the league. I watch a lot of hockey and have no problems with game calls whatsoever.
We disagree, we won't change each others minds there's no point in continuing the conversation.

They spin that stupidity every time a subject about the announcers comes up. It's embarrassing, how they still to this day, continue to push these lies.11WSChamps wrote: ↑26 Jan 2026 16:00 pmOf course they do.AtillaTheBlue1 wrote: ↑26 Jan 2026 15:55 pmStop lying about what power the Blues have on Announcers. You and others spin these lies.TheJackBurton
Blues/Cardinals have 100% right of refusal.
Blues used it on Ken Wilson, after FSMW gave him new deal
Cardinals used it on a couple announcers/analysts/studio hosts
They don't hire the announcers, but have 100% rights to say NO. So stop pushing some utter nonsense you believe. It's wrong.
It's their product for Christ sake.
He should know that.

Reported here...from the horses mouth....just for one.STLinCHI wrote: ↑26 Jan 2026 15:39 pmReported where? It wasn't the Blues decision to relocate JK. He's still employed by Fanduel. This was strictly done because L.A. generates more revenue than StL and FD wanted to decrease costs in StL. Same with Pang although FD did not make an offer to keep him.dhsux wrote: ↑26 Jan 2026 14:57 pmThere is a ton of blame to be laid on the Blues for this. Kelly was a brand name for this franchise, FanDuel or not.STLinCHI wrote: ↑26 Jan 2026 14:32 pmJK is an employee of RSN Fanduel and he wasn't fired he was relocated to a much larger market in L.A. There's way more revenue to pay him. He has stated it's worked out quite well for both he and his family. Meanwhile Fanduel is losing money on their overall RSN's nationwide and you can bet are paying less to have Kerbs and Vitale simulcast. Don't blame the Blues for this.
The Blues role in this is huge and it has been acknowledged and reported as such.

In a real world, should clarify many misconceptions.
Re: John Kelly. on Kings feed, what a blunder F
First thing that came to my mind is like yours. Blues or Fan Dual made the decision. The Justification Rhetoric never felt right considering Blues History with the Kelly family.

He was let go 5 months ago and there is nothing you can do or say that will reverse the outcome. John Kelly moved on and landed on his feet quite well. If he can move on….maybe you can.11WSChamps wrote: ↑26 Jan 2026 22:15 pmTypical. Another goon who can dish it out but cant take it.Jeff Goldblum wrote: ↑26 Jan 2026 20:48 pmGood one.
