Cards signed Nelson Velasquez to minors league deal. Good signing for minors.
Better not be Bloom's RH hitting outfield bat which he recently referenced as wanting to add.
I hope not also but I don’t think it is bloom said he was looking for a veteran presence he’s played some in the majors but he’s hardly a player you would consider as having a veteran presence
Ok, looked him up. He played mostly in the Independents league last year, and has struggled to hit .240 in the minors for his career. As I said, he comes cheaply!

Yep. A minor league contract with an NRI to spring training. Every team signs these contracts. Every team. Every year. No one is expecting him to save the Cards season or deliver them to the playoffs.

You are absolutely correct, every team does it. However, that isn’t all that they do.

Bloom has signed all seven of our arb-eligible players and made a couple of aggressive international signings. All the while, he's rebuilding the organization from the inside out. He's told us that the 2026 MLB roster is not the top priority. Are you expecting some headline grabbing free agent signings? I am not. Rebuilds take time.
