I was watching Foul Territory when this deal was announced and Jim Bowden was on the show. He surprised me when he said front offices had an issue with Bader due to his ego. He mentioned that when he was on the Yankees Bader told the front office there that he should be the cleanup hitter. Don’t know how much credence to put into this knowing the source but the fact that was his first comment about the trade must mean he has heard things about Bader.

If Bader signed that contract with the Cardinals, he would be the highest paid player on the team (right?). I do not know if he has the leadership qualities that would meet the expectations.

Probably not, but he would be our best hitting outfielder. Unless we extended Donovan, in which case Bader would not be the highest paid player.
