The combination of the disturbing, ripped-from-the-headlines images of brown people being rounded up like Jews in the 1930s and the zany, Boomer stoner comedy just did not work for me. At all.
You should make that movie then. Thats not what this movie was about.

"I have done a lot of drugs and drank a lot, I can't remember every f***ing password"!!! or whatever he said was classic. I mean, I feel that, I can't imagine remembering that from 15-20 years ago! ha ha

If you love the "burnout trapped in a serious movie" routine, I recommend The Big Lebowski. Also, The Pineapple Express. I can probably think of ten more, if you give me a minute. Oh...Inherent Vice, of course!

You might literally die laughing.

The beauty of the password scene is that it rings at least five different comical bells at once, not the least of which lampooning the 70’s spectacle of upper middle class kids playing lethal double naught spy desperados. The rest, most of us caught the first time. Every important aspect of this film had both a comic side against a very real dark side. There was a spoonful of sugar for each dose of tragic medicine.

I am pretty offended that you think a dude who is posting on a movie forum has never seen The Big Lebowski, or Pineapple Express...or even Inherent Vice. Come on man! What's next, telling me that the ending to The Usual Suspects is pretty good? :P

Wife and I got around to watching this earlier this week. What’s weird is I liked it pretty well in the moment but it’s not a movie that had a lasting impact on me, like other PTA movies (There Will be Blood for instance).

I also found most of the characters pretty unlikeable (on a variety of levels) and it’s hard to really really enjoy a movie where you’re not rooting hard for any of the leads.

Just my 0.02.

IMO 'One Battle' will be a movie that everybody thinks is Big and Important in the moment, but nobody is going to remember six months from now.

In other words, a typical BP winner.

Interesting. It had the complete opposite effect on me. I wasn't that impressed immediately after I saw it, but it grew on me over time.

In the middle. I was immediately taken by its deft humor and sly topicality. It has stayed with me.

Farce is often under-valued. Another film I value highly, but many others do not, is 'Don't Look Up' - for similar reasons.
