Picks Three and Four
The consensus/hope at least here seems to be McKenna and Stenberg go 1/2.
Given if the Blues finish second worst they are more likely to pick 3 or 4, who are the next players you're looking to pick?

Re: Picks Three and Four
I think it depends on whether thy make any moves at the TDL, acquire any more 1st round picks, or acquire other players. For example, if they acquired Shane Wright, they might be less inclined to stretch for a center like Lawrence or Malhotra at 3 or 4.
With that said, my guess is one of the two Dmen you mentioned or Lawrence/Malhotra. My personal order, which will differ from others is:
Reid
Malhotra
Belchetz
Lawrence
Verhoeff
Carels

TBF what's your take on any of those players getting on the big ice their first year?TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑26 Jan 2026 08:42 am I think it depends on whether thy make any moves at the TDL, acquire any more 1st round picks, or acquire other players. Carels would be my hope. After Stenberg, he is who I am hoping for. Though I would take McKenna at 2 for sure.
Re: Picks Three and Four
For me; if the wingers(Stenberg/McKenna) are gone you take Reid, Verhoeff or Carels(in that order).
Top 5 is a stretch for both centers.

It’s Carels and then Belchetz.
Re: Picks Three and Four
How could we get shane wright, Jason robertson, and a high draft pick while keeping Thomas. That would really revamp things in a hurry.

Re: Picks Three and Four
last year when we did this exercise they ended up picking 19th. I am leery as in get er done leery.
I also don't yet trust my own answer so I'd rather wait til closer. If the draft were an hour from now I would probably go Carels then Reid. But it's not in an hour, I don't feel fully comfortable with my names, and the draft is five months away with many more games of hockey with injuries and outcomes still to play out.
If they net a blue chip prospect somehow with the deadline trades we expect it could affect my decision, but it is always BPA especially with a pick in this range.

Probably a better question for Kimzey or Pierre. Personally, I don't see any of them making the NHL in their draft year. Outside of the top 2 picks that everyone think have that chance.dhsux wrote: ↑26 Jan 2026 09:37 amTBF what's your take on any of those players getting on the big ice their first year?TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑26 Jan 2026 08:42 am I think it depends on whether thy make any moves at the TDL, acquire any more 1st round picks, or acquire other players. Re: Picks Three and Four
Everything is so tight at the bottom of the standings. It still feeld too good to be true. Its going to come down to if they get on s heater before they start dealing.
I seen a little video saying army wants a rasmus anderson package for faulk. If thats true then hes going nowhere. It would be extremely disappointing to go through this season and rnd up with anything short of a top 5 pick.
Did they tell kyrou “if you want out you have to produce” or is he finally figuring something out?

Likely not other than maybe a couple of 9 game tryouts. There will be somebody though that breaks through that you don’t expect like Ben Kindel did this year.TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑26 Jan 2026 11:06 amProbably a better question for Kimzey or Pierre. I wouldn’t count Carels out…really depends on the team but his poise, skating and confidence level is NHL ready for sure.
Verhoeff is physically ready but his hockey IQ is behind Carels and Reid. Reid is good..doubt his defense is ready for the NHL. All three of these guys are for sure on opening night rosters in 2027. I think Carels is quite a bit ahead of them as an overall package right now.
Re: Picks Three and Four
Well that's for sure! Man it sure would be nice if we do end up picking in our usual mid-range draft area for us to find a Wyatt Johnston type of player who steps in ideally right away, or in the next year. I'll use Perron too as an example, but even he was a bit slow to escape this Forum's lens.
What's the latest on the Matvei Korotky kid? Wouldn't it be nice to be benefactors of a late-round real gem...and if so, when could he first be able to arrive? I'm not familiar with how all of these contract arrangements go with those European & Russian leagues.

It could be done if we mortgaged the future and sold off all of our top prospects. Who is the first to go? Jirisek or Carboneau?

What options does verheoff have if ge gets a trial and doesnt stick? Not sure how it eorks since he played ncaa this year. Is he not too young fir the AHL?Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑26 Jan 2026 12:01 pmLikely not other than maybe a couple of 9 game tryouts. Re: Picks Three and Four
If signs a nhl contract he can’t go back to college so he would have to get sent to the ahl. There isn’t a special deal between the ncaa and the nhl like there is between the nhl and the chl. At least as far as I know.Younghopp1991 wrote: ↑26 Jan 2026 12:31 pmWhat options does verheoff have if ge gets a trial and doesnt stick? Not sure how it eorks since he played ncaa this year.
