We had Alex Reyes--No. 1 over all prospect in all of Milb--How'd that go?
We had Dylan Carlson--No. 23 over all prospect in all of Milb--How'd that go?
We had Jordan Walker--No. 1 over all prospect in all of Milb--How'd that go?
We had Nolan Gorman--No. 15 over all prospect in all of Milb--you get the point.
So, don't tell me the answer to the problem is prospects.
And don't tell me the prospects we acquired recently are special.
I realize we need the farm system and it needs to be as good as possible.
However, you need much more than that.
Look at the A's, Miami, Tampa, Pitts., etc. and etc.
They've been teams that just accumulated prospects.
To no avail.
Not one champion amongst them.
What we need is help from MLB.
We need a salary cap.
Needs to be run like the NFL.
Lot of small market teams thrive in the NFL.

It’s just that the thought of us so happy.
Appears in my mind. As a beautifully mysterious thing.

Fine with a salary cap ..If you are going to put a max. number on team salary costs for players , then what would the owners change in the system to offset that . For example. for a max team cap would owners agree to reducing the 6 years that it takes a player to reach free agency.Bully4you wrote: ↑26 Jan 2026 04:44 am We had Alex Reyes--No. 1 over all prospect in all of Milb--How'd that go?

Would they agree to 4 or 5 years ? Then a rising player can go to a team he desires at better pay then he makes now. EX. Donovan in present system , he is in 4th year (due to current system he is in arbitration and will be making $5.8 M .. If he was a free agent in a new ssytem even with a team cap , he may earn double that . SO while owners would want a total cap, I bet they would scream Oh No ! to tweaking the time it takes to get to free agency. With a team cap, I would also drop the QO concept . PLayers who reach free agency currently can have the QO slapped on them which requires an acquiring team to give up draft pick compensation to sign the player . The effect of that is some teams are hesitant to bid on some free agents as they covet keeping their higher draft choices. So for a team cap, the owners should drop the QO and truly let all players reaching free agency first time to not be restricted in any way. In getting that QO off the table, the players should allow for an international draft.
Let the Latin players be part of a draft rather than the current free for all system.
Those are just a few of the give and take for a new bargaining agreement . Let's see how badly the owners want a true salary cap. Are they willing to give concessions to the players to get a new good system ? We shall see.

Need cap and floor but the most valid point you made was the total reliance on prospects and the farm system. That will not work and has never worked for the Cardinals. There has always been a mix of proven star players in the mix.Bully4you wrote: ↑26 Jan 2026 04:44 am We had Alex Reyes--No. 1 over all prospect in all of Milb--How'd that go?

I’m also reserving my judgment of Bloom based on the next moves not the past moves. It’s time to see players that are MLB ready or near ready in next deals. Getting guys that are 2 to 3 years out is not reliable.
