I miss the shooters instead of dekes. Schenn likes to shoot. Tarasenko liked to shoot low blocker a lot. These guys come in slow and run themselves out of space.

You got it. Too much slow faking and dusting the ice. If you replay the penalty shot goal Tarasenko scored against the Sharks in the 2019 conference round, you’ll see a perfect example of how to do it well.TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑24 Jan 2026 21:53 pmI miss the shooters instead of dekes. Even Snuggy had a better chance on his SO attempt tonight, even though he didn’t score. Just needed to lift it a bit higher to get it over Kuemper’s glove.

I knew when I saw him take that wide angle it wouldn’t end well. Just skate down the middle at normal speed and get a f’ing shot off. The Blues are absolutely horrendous in the shootout.Hazelwood72 wrote: ↑24 Jan 2026 21:58 pmYou got it. Too much slow faking and dusting the ice. Absolutely agree with going straight in, fast.

The entire roster is bad/worse at a lot of things than they should be.

This is a skill that is worked on in drills and should be practice as much as anything.
Kings boardcast showed a w/l chart marking the difference between the ten youngest teams and the ten older teams... Young teams had more then twice as many wins(36) as the older teams(16).

David Alexander the goalie coach was brought down to the bench from the press box to help the shooters know where the opponents’ goalies weaknesses are so that our players can shoot more effectively.
Between the rare shootouts and the general play itself, With the low amount of scoring in either scenario it’s either Alexander’s strategy or the players themselves.

It’s pretty embarrassing watchin most of their attempts. If they actually practice that sheeet, then they need to stop it, now.

and being HORRIBLE at CLEARING THE PUCK
way too often it's like the other team has a 5-on-5 power play.
