Oscar Hemming
This is one of the guys I’d like to target if we can snag another late round 1st.
Oscar Hemming
- 6’4 200lbs LW/C
- two way power forward with good shot/hands
- Giant, nasty and plays hard at net and can skate
- early transfer issues have limited his exposure and slowed him down but he’s been surging recently
- offense might be a bit behind other attributes but still developing and projects as top six capable player.
- draws comps to Tom Wilson and Nichushkin assuming offense continues to develop at current rate
- late first round may bump to mid with recent surge

His brother is very good but I’m hoping for a late round pick on Tomas Chrenko.WilliamWestcliffe wrote: ↑24 Jan 2026 20:29 pm This is one of the guys I’d like to target if we can snag another late round 1st.

I hear you but he’s another undersized center. Of course you can move him to wing which I’m sure will inevitably happen when he gets to the NHL, but at that point is he not what we already have in spades?Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑24 Jan 2026 20:40 pmHis brother is very good but I’m hoping for a late round pick on Tomas Chrenko.WilliamWestcliffe wrote: ↑24 Jan 2026 20:29 pm This is one of the guys I’d like to target if we can snag another late round 1st.

I like Chernko, but I like Morozov(the kid is just so good defensively) and Command more(Jack Hextall isn't too far behind them either).Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑24 Jan 2026 20:40 pmHis brother is very good but I’m hoping for a late round pick on Tomas Chrenko.WilliamWestcliffe wrote: ↑24 Jan 2026 20:29 pm This is one of the guys I’d like to target if we can snag another late round 1st.

And I'd be ecstatic if Pipparinen or Novotny were somehow still on the board.

I’m guessing we somehow win a few games and then both lotto balls get drawn and we end up 6-7. Would be very Blues like luck. I still like Malhotra. He’s the kind of center this team needs.

You can never have to much talent and he’s always around the puck making plays. If we are gonna go big and nasty, let’s get Belchetz.WilliamWestcliffe wrote: ↑24 Jan 2026 20:44 pmI hear you but he’s another undersized center. Pretty sure we are gonna have a late round pick though, so you might get your wish, you just never know.

Yep. If we have two firsts I’d rather gamble with who I think has higher upside with the late pick.Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑24 Jan 2026 20:55 pmYou can never have to much talent and he’s always around the puck making plays. I’d also love to pry Carter Bear out of Detroit, but no idea what that price tag would be.
Re: Oscar Hemming
Belchetz is gonna go way too high for us to have any chance at him(Hemming too, most likely).Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑24 Jan 2026 20:55 pmYou can never have to much talent and he’s always around the puck making plays. If you want big and nasty in the 2nd half of the first, you go for Casey Mutryn.
He probably belongs in the 2nd round, but he's the most aggressive hitter in this class and he's as safe a pick as you can make. Probably tops out as a Sundqvist type but you could do a lot worse in the 25-32 range(I'd lean a different direction personally, but if size/nasty are the only criteria Mutryn has to be towards the top of the list).

Well yeah I’m not talking about Belchetz late round, he’s going somewhere between 5-12. We could be in that range.kimzey59 wrote: ↑25 Jan 2026 09:37 amBelchetz is gonna go way too high for us to have any chance at him(Hemming too, most likely).Pierre McGuire wrote: ↑24 Jan 2026 20:55 pmYou can never have to much talent and he’s always around the puck making plays.
