Astros seeking left-handed hitter

Post by rockondlouie »

Astros GM Dana Brown:

In terms of additions, Brown mentioned looking for a left-handed hitter to offset the righty-laden lineup.

“If that opportunity presents itself and we can make some sort of trade to do that, it would be intriguing for us to make the team better.”

-Noot?

(Strong candidate if stros' think he'd be ready late April/early May)?

-Gorman?

(Not sure C. Bloom will deal him given the lack of power bats on the team but likely if the offer is good)

-Burleson?

(Not likely unless they'd bowel Bloom over w/their offer)

Poor Bloom, Rock wants the Astros to "bowel" him over!

Best typo ever!

Thanks Rock! Made my morning

Wonder if Dana Brown would give Bloom a "reach around" after the boweling maneuver?

Come on guys, that was Mo not Bloom. Doubt Brown found anything on Mo when he did the reach around.

Rock I'd think the Astros were a little overloaded with infielder guys Walker, Altuve (failed in LF), Pena, Paredes, Correa.... so I don't see why they would want Gorman. Maybe Noot for LF, or either Donovan or Burly.

They are shopping walker and paredes ….

Stros would take nootbarr for Walker……..actually they would take just about any warm body to move that contract

Going to take a lot more to get Paredes…

My thoughts:

They want a hitter so Gorman is out.

If they want immediate impact Noot is too risky due to injuries.

Based on last year Burley is worth keeping plus we need a first baseman.

Burly is serviceable, affordable, and is a position of need for the Cardinals. Gotta hold on to him.

If you like his skillset, or his price-point, I have no qualms with that, but it wouldn't be that hard to find another serviceable first baseman.
