Cover them 1440 innings

Post by cardstatman »

Assuming Romero is traded...

SP
150 Pallante
150 Liberatore
150 McGreevy
100 May (traded by end of July)
100 Dobbins (innings limit)
100 Fitts
80 Leahy
70 Svanson
60 O'Brien
40 Stanek (traded by end of July)
60 Graceffo
60 Granillo
60 Pushard

60 Matthews (more if we have SP injuries... and we probably will)
40 Fernandez
40 Roycroft
40 Bruihl
40 Raquet
40 Mautz (more if we have SP injuries... and we probably will)

How do you see the innings getting covered in 2026?

I think Leahy gets stretched out and becomes a starter at some point in the season. He should be well over 100.

It also wouldnt shock me to see Pallante and/or Liberatore in the 180 range. They both pitched over 150 last year. Fitts also should be over 100 as well.

We can only hope that Pallante isn’t our innings leader this year.

Unless he gets a lot better than he was in '25.

I guess anything is possible. I hope so.

Only 10 pitchers in the NL threw 180 inings or more and those were the top pitchers.

Pallante and especially Leahy's strengths are being able to pitch multiple innings out of the bullpen and not fodder for the rotation.

“THE Five Aces”

“The Rotation of Doom”

Better than the:
“The Four Aces” (Phillies, 2011 — Halladay, Lee, Hamels, Oswalt)

Yep. Enough with the batted ball luck (or bad luck). He's good to mop up or get you a double play ball out of the pen but we've seen what a full season looks like and it isn't pretty.

Should be a pretty good rotation with May, Dobbins, McGreevy, Liberatore, and Fitts coming out of the chute.
Mathews to plug in if he has his command and control back. Henderson and Mautz coming on strong. Don't see Pallante or Leahy as factors.

For SOME of these starters they could deploy a 1-2 inning opener to get through the first 6 and then start the starter in the 3rd picking up another inning by starting against the bottom of the order and only having to face the top 2 times.

How many quality starts out of that bunch? That’s the key.

And how many innings will Donny/Burly/Pages/Winn be forced to pitch?

If I was forced to bet I’d go(to start the season):
May(fingers crossed! At least he threw 132 innings in 2025)
Libby
McGreevey

Followed by(?):
Fitts
Dobbins
Leahy

Pallante?- BP as fallback plan.
Mathews?- Can he make a case in ST?

170+ Liberatore, McGreevy
150+ Pallante
110+ Leahy, May (not traded)
80+ Fitts
60+ Dobbins, Zimmermann
30+ Mautz, Henderson

That's about 860 IP from SP (5.3 IP per start)

Mathews is a wild card for me. He has to completely recover his command, wouldn't be surprised to see a full season at AAA and get passed for spot opportunities by guys like Mautz / Henderson who simply commanded the ball better in 2025.
