Who's in favor of building a mythical beast?

Post by CCard »

Because that's pure fantasy. Divest yourself of talent. Stay cheap is your new business model. Because it's worked in places like Cincy, Pittsburgh, Miami, etc then you know it can work here too...because ....the Cardinal way? When you draft this great talent from all the losing you've been doing, they will be superstars and not only superstars but they will give you a hometown discount when they get paid. Or if they don't give you the discount then you flip them to the Dodgers, Yankees or some other dupe to get their top cheap talent. They're a bunch of rubes and are in love with your soon to be free agents anyway. After you've won 4 world series in a row, you decide to start the process all over again. The fans balk somewhat so you publicly denigrate them because after all you have produced all these world series championships. Fantasy land is where this exists.

Exactry.

The power of reason, the top of the heap
We're the ones who can kill the things we
Don't eat
Sharper than a serpent's tongue
Tighter than a bongo drum
Quicker than a one-night stand
Slicker than a mambo band
And now the day is come
Soon he will be released
Glory hallelujah!
We're building the Perfect Beast
(building, building, etc..)
It's Olympus this time- Olympus or bust
For we have met the enemy -and he is us
And now the day is come
Soon he will be released
Glory hallelujah!
We're building the Perfect Beast
(Building, Building)
Ever since we crawled out of the ocean
And stood upright on the land
There are some things that we just don't
Understand:
Relieve all pain and suffering
And lift us out of the dark
Turn us all into Methuselah-
But where are we gonna park?
(Building, Building)
The secrets of eternity-
We've found the lock and turned the key
We're shakin' up those building blocks
Going deeper into that box- (Pandora
Wouldn't like it)
And now the day is come
Soon he will be released
Glory hallelujah!
We're building the Perfect Beast
(building, building)
All the way to Malibu from the Land of the
Talking Drum-
Just look how far-look how far we've come

No one has proposed that they should "stay cheap."

In fact, quite the opposite - they will almost certainly have to raise payroll significantly when they are ready to compete again. That, however, is not 2026.

When there is a wide foundation of talent, and one or two players can actually elevate the club to legitimate contenders,,,(and that does not include contending for a weak division)

that’s the time to invest in the free market

There's a diner near me named Sunset Grill (true). Decent place, but no working girls to watch go by.

I'm in Florida, not California like Henley.
