Interesting article about Thomas to Boston
I think the author is a Bruins fan, but I posted it for discussion.
I hate the return and I pray they don't give Monty a full vote on this rumored trade. I would want Hagens or Moore plus. Their first round pick this year will be low first rounder from Boston. It's hardly a Quinn Hughes type return as the author states what Army would need in return. I like Thomas, but he doesn't impact the game like Quinn Hughes. I prefer to keep Thomas as I think he's having a down year and he's at least a solid 2C whose 26 years old and cost controlled.
Although it's good to have competition in each position, you have to believe Dvo has 1C or 2C locked up. Otto is a really smart player so you think he will be a top two center for the Blues. I think we will have a lottery pick this year and we will probably go with a winger.

Re: Interesting article about Thomas to Boston
Thomas was better than Dvo when he was the same age, IMO...and he is more of a pure center. At least from what I've seen. And do the Blues view Stenberg's future at wing, or at C? I actually don't know the answer to that question. Either way, I think we would need to find another top-6 center if we deal Thomas (i.e., we can't rely on Dvo and Stenberg to fill those two positions long-term).
Re: Interesting article about Thomas to Boston
Has Stenberg ever played center as a pro? I don't watch the Springfield games but I doubt it.sneptsmoustache wrote: ↑22 Jan 2026 06:06 am Thomas was better than Dvo when he was the same age, IMO...and he is more of a pure center. Is Hagens in Boston a Center?
Maybe Hagens, Mason Lorhei, and Zacha
for
Thomas?

Hard to make this comparison its pretty even. Thomas had the luxury of being on a pretty good hockey team 42-19-10 that yearsneptsmoustache wrote: ↑22 Jan 2026 06:06 am Thomas was better than Dvo when he was the same age, IMO...and he is more of a pure center. That team was 11th in the NHL in Goals Scored, he had ROR and Schenn in their primes in front of him.
This season Dalibor has been the #2 center at 20 yrs old on a lot of nights with wingers that can neither make plays or score goals. Roughly a dozen + times Dalibor has made a sweet pass to a winger that fumbled it, whiffed, shot into the goalies crest. Still

I can easily see DD surpassing RTs goals scored but probably not Points this season.
All in all i would give the slight edge to RT over DD at 20 yrs old although they are two totally different centers 58 Hits so far from DD, he has a great shot, big kid, great passer hes done more than i expected this season. At the start i wasnt sure hed even be ready this year he surprises me every night with some skill play he pulls off. So while his numbers are lower than RTs i expect over the next few years that DD is going to boom into a legit top 6 NHL center

No Stenberg isnt a center he probably played center at some point younger. The only centers of note in the system immediately would be bottom 6 types, Dean and StanclDawgDad wrote: ↑22 Jan 2026 07:07 amHas Stenberg ever played center as a pro? I like the idea of Zacha but hes not a replacement in any way for Thomas. With Hagens, Zacha and Dvorsky the Blues could eventually come up with a very solid center group

A lot like Mailloux, Dalibor is adjusting to the speed and size of the NHL. Hes also been in the random, thrown names in a hat to determine what the line combinations are every night no consistency, no chemistry yet. He is going to pop at some point and start to dominate the NHL maybe its next year maybe when hes 22. Hes done this at every level hes played its coming for sure, maybe on a surprising levelZizzle1297 wrote: ↑23 Jan 2026 10:14 amThe line with I believe Devo With I believe Fabbri and Bergrenn was probably the best on ice at least 5 on 5 last gameHarry S Deals wrote: ↑22 Jan 2026 08:34 amHard to make this comparison its pretty even. More delusional fan talk. Dvorsky has 3rd line center written all over him and that’s what he was projected as.theograce wrote: ↑23 Jan 2026 10:23 amDvorsky is going to dominate the NHL? Stop lol. Guy barely has 40 games under his belt. Im not trying to over sell him but he looks like way more than a 3rd line center. Especially since the team has zero leadership and barely 3rd line wingers and a D corp that is scared to death to make mistakes.Bacchk29 wrote: ↑23 Jan 2026 10:27 amMore delusional fan talk. I have zero interest returning the favor for the 2018/19 Finals. Hagens & Lorhei is the starting conversation. We’re throwing in one of their 2026 Firsts & a Second if they want Thomas and his contract; which per year is close to what Buffalo just gave Josh DoanBackesdraft wrote: ↑22 Jan 2026 08:14 amI have a hard time believing Boston would part with both Lorhei and Hagens.Zizzle1297 wrote: ↑22 Jan 2026 07:51 am Is Hagens in Boston a Center?

Re: Interesting article about Thomas to Boston
32 Thoughts (Jan 23): On Robert Thomas, Elliotte says if the Blues were to move him you would have to make them an offer where they couldn't say no. "The other thing I've heard is they're looking for a stud top 6 forward that is slightly younger than Thomas." #stlblues #NHL
Idk how this is going to come together,
a) Blues will want a major return
b) Thomas has to agree
c) Cap needs to work out
Lots of online click bait chatter, thats about all that this is
