With Buchnevich--You would get nothing in return imho.
He will be here for a while. Bad contract. He's not worth the stupid money he got. That being said he's not a bad 3rd liner. We may be stuck with him being overpaid in a lessor role.
With Kyrou--You may have to take back an underperforming contract or get a lesser return due to his one-dimensional play. (Even though he was improving.) If he strings together some nice games--You could strike while the iron is hot.
Other idea is to reunite Holloway Schenn and Kyrou for the rest of the year. Just accept Kyrou for now and don't trade him. Put him in a great position to sell him. Sell him in the summer when it's easier to wheel and deal. Right now, he looks awful and we haven't done a good job of making him look good (to market him to other squads) imo.

Attaching a first or second to move Kyrou or Busch is a bad idea. This team needs to be acquiring draft capital not moving it. We are going to lose a high second round pick this year for Hayes. Think of the quality player that could have been turned into.StLouis-4Life2 wrote: ↑20 Jan 2026 20:52 pm Buchenvich and Kyrou?
Buchenvich I'm guessing eating half of his salary and a second rounder for a late first rounder and a salary dump expiring contract. Kyrou on the other hand I'm thinking we have to go the other way and offer the same late 1st round pick, and a third for a top 20 player...or maybe Thomas and Kyrou for Keller and a first or do you just do Thomas and a first for Austin Matthews ? In reality it probably better to bring back Reeves and let him beat the (bleep) out of these guys in practice until they start putting in some effort? I truly hope this team is throwing games for a low draft pick because if they are not it's going to be a long 3-4 years. You almost have to be a masochist to keep watching them![]()

This is where I am at. Kyrou is a perennial 30 goal scorer and lead the team in +/- last year. He is having a down year (as most of the team is) but he has upward potential goal as an elite scorer. He is also still young and contract controlled. Buch I would try and offload and we will probably have to give up a pick as well, or take back another bad contract. He is as soft as butter and has a very low hockey IQ. Also, as listed above I would put Kyrou, Schenn, and Holloway back together for the rest of the year and see if they can get the chemistry back. That was our top line last year during the run and Monty seems he’ll bent on not putting them back together despite all playing wayyyy below last years numbers.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑21 Jan 2026 09:03 am Its highly likely that both Buch and Kyrou are here next season. Hopefully this season is more of an aberration vs their career output than the new norm. Both are having terrible seasons, both have NTCs why would another GM want them? I would do a deal certainly but wouldnt eat any salary or include any sweeteners to move them. Esp for Kyrou i would want a pretty substantial package back otherwise id keep him.
