With Rasmus in Vegas, I'm thinking Faulk to
Detroit or back to Carolina. He's logically the next Blue and next RH defenseman to get traded.

Yes you could do this dance again next deadline but it does feel like something for this year. I personally want futures, not this "hockey trade" stuff. I think fans have accepted where the team is at, no need to not be direct. They need futures. The time is not right now or next year.

Yeah it doesn’t make sense to me…Armstrong talking about wanting to obtains players to mix in with the core…seattleblue wrote: ↑19 Jan 2026 15:00 pm Yes you could do this dance again next deadline but it does feel like something for this year. Yet he’s open to trading the entire core.
I’m worried about him.

Eh, I think it's a lot of speculation and rumors. Armstrong says one thing and does another all the time.theograce wrote: ↑19 Jan 2026 15:05 pmYeah it doesn’t make sense to me…Armstrong talking about wanting to obtains players to mix in with the core…seattleblue wrote: ↑19 Jan 2026 15:00 pm Yes you could do this dance again next deadline but it does feel like something for this year. I think it's also important to remember that most picks in deadline deals are late rounders anyway. We've had a lot of success with those but it's understandable why you might want a known quantity over a pick in the 20s or later.

I'm worried about you (ok, rhetorically). The core Army is talking about is the work-in-progress core, primarily the group of younger talented players who have or will earn roles on the team with whoever else is added or hangs in.theograce wrote: ↑19 Jan 2026 15:05 pmYeah it doesn’t make sense to me…Armstrong talking about wanting to obtains players to mix in with the core…seattleblue wrote: ↑19 Jan 2026 15:00 pm Yes you could do this dance again next deadline but it does feel like something for this year. Right now the "old core" players are down to Schenn, Sunny (if you consider him "core"), Parayko, Faulk, Binnington, and Fowler by late addition. Kyrou and Thomas are young enough to be considered in the new core by default. All the other age 30+ veterans are replaceable role players. By extending him I suppose you could say Buchnevich is really part of the new core, too, until he isn't.
There probably isn't any player on this team who is untouchable, though clearly a few are highly valued by the Blues, some more than their production to-date. So yes, Thomas or Hofer or Neighbours or Snuggerud or Dvorsky or Parayko could be traded in what for the Blues would constitute a blockbuster trade. Personally, I don't see them ripping up the new core, I see them seeking to add to it, fill holes. But, if the GM sees a way to improve the team (looking forward) why wouldn't he? The Blues don't have anybody who at this point is a franchise player like a McDavid, and even he could someday be traded.
The Blues need to ice a team next season. I do not see them holding a fire sale gutting the team at a key position like center or RD. I simply believe they will be more surgical and methodical. They could trade Parayko, Faulk, Schenn, and Binnington by the deadline but they don't have to trade all or any of those guys. Most likely they are focusing on the arrival of the group led by Jiricek, Lindstein, and this season's #1 to fill out the young core. Plus, whoever else they can pick up in trade or FA, which hopefully can boost performance in the interim while the kids mature.

Same. I don't mind taking a contract in the deal, but that's not where the value coming back should be derived. Or, it would need to be a very young player, like Kotkaniemi from CAR, plus futures.seattleblue wrote: ↑19 Jan 2026 15:00 pm Yes you could do this dance again next deadline but it does feel like something for this year. I think Detroit is a great trade partner. Someone mentioned that some non-Blues website said Faulk for Danielson and a 1st. I would jump for joy! - and this is why I want to trade Faulk ASAP. Next year at the TDL he won't have the same value.

That was me that said I heard that from Mike on Top Shelf hockey. Would be a great trade I doubt get that value but maybe like one of their slightly lesser prospects!zamadoo wrote: ↑20 Jan 2026 05:18 amSame. Hope next year CP55 rebounds and has higher value.

I'm thinking Dallas could be a good partner. Rumor has it, they are far apart in the next Robertson contract so I'd at least give them a call. It'll take a lot more than Faulk to land him though. You'd probably have to throw in Jake and a prospect/1st at least to start the conversation.

Stancl is my favorite prospect and Trouba is by far one of my least favorite players, and that is a proposal to turn Faulk into non-futures at its base in a situation where you have to get futures and you have very few ways to do that.
So, no

I think the Blues want to get younger than Trouba. I understand you are probably just trying to make the money work and fill a temporary gap on the right side.Zizzle1297 wrote: ↑20 Jan 2026 09:32 am What about
