However, I have been drinking wine and smoking weed; so I would completely understand if you don't agree with anything I just said. Give this some time-the kid has a lot of talent and many young d-men need time to develop and figure it out. He skates so well and effortlessly. He could be a real hammer if he learns the game and puts on a little bit more beef. I think we will end up liking this trade.

Im still flabbergasted at how much disdain there seems to be with this trade, especially since Bolduc continues to show he’s not the superstar some pretended he was. He STILL may not even be a 20 goal scorer after this season, while people still call him a 20+ goal scorer.
The reason I havent lost any faith in Mailloux is because…he’s STILL only played a whopping 40 nhl games. Has he sucked some nights? You betcha, all rookie Dmen do. Do I wish his offensive numbers were better? Yep, cause I believe he has alot of untapped potential based off the facts of his AHL Allstar numbers, but I also realize he’s bein coached to improve his defense, which he definitely has to improve. But the one or two things I loved about him most havent and wont change…and that’s his SIZE, that cant be taught, and his grit, which will continue to surface more as he becomes more consistent and comfortable.
I get all the doubts about his game, there’s nothing wrong with that and it’s logical to an extent…I just dont get why people dont have any patience while knowing its a process and lettin him go through his growing pains till we know what he ultimately turns out to be. Was everyone this fatalistic when Bolduc was sitting on one goal last year for half the season?

Yea, If one’s being objective, then it’s easy to see and admit the dude has skills, ill just continue to beat the ‘he just needs more time to put it all together’ drum till he reaches the 150 to 200 game mark.dhsux wrote: ↑15 Jan 2026 12:40 pmI don't have a stat but what I see is a tremendous shot and a high percent ON GOAL, something this D core lacks.Old_Goat wrote: ↑15 Jan 2026 09:34 amIt is kind of interesting when a rookie defenseman is called out for a reason the team's offensive production is sub-standard.Bluesfan1978 wrote: ↑15 Jan 2026 03:25 am Personally I think the scoring issue comes from a team that’s trying too hard not to be scored on. There’s no way this team is confident with Binner this year and Hofer is playing better but he had some pretty bad games. The D I’m sure also have no idea what Hofer is going to do with the puck. Consistent goaltending does wonders for a team’s confidence.
Oh, and by the way, besides size and grit, the boy can definitely skate forward and backward. Although some of his outlet plays and positioning should be improved, his outlet passes are strong and on the TAPE.
And your points above are very good.
He's working on the right thing but it may be tamping down one of his strengths.
We need to make sense common around here again.

Neighbours has also played 12 fewer games on a struggling team that has scored about 50 fewer goals than Montreal. I wouldn't have traded Bolduc away either, but I would take Neighbours over Bolduc every time.Cahokanut wrote: ↑17 Jan 2026 15:13 pmI'm still one who knows we got took.SameOldBlues wrote: ↑14 Jan 2026 14:45 pm MR. Sure, Bolduc isn't a superstar.
But if you think he wasn't undervalued. I don't think you are serious.
After showing up in Montreal Bolbuc showed real quick he knew how to score a goal. He also showed. He knew how to hit. With the 1st. overall pick(Slagkovsky) and the 5th overall pick(Demidov) already there, known, and skill in, 'to the net hockey. Which one do you place in the bottom six, before the new guy that hits more then anyone else on the team. You don't.
Bolduc is a team player. Proved it here. By saying and doing what every one of our prospect have said and if they want to play does. "I'm working on my defense"
He is playing the game his team needs him to play.
Bolduc has 10 gl, 18pts, 101hits, -10. 13mpg 62% dzs.
Playing behind two elite wingers.
Neighbours has 12 gls, 20pts, 99hits, -12 16mpg 61%ozs
Playing with our top players

Sounds like a pretty good night as far as I’m concerned…similar to what I might do when I occasionally have the house to myself (well, when me and the dog have the house to ourselves)…a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do!Lets_Clinch wrote: ↑17 Jan 2026 22:22 pmHowever, I have been drinking wine and smoking weed; so I would completely understand if you don't agree with anything I just said. i do miss smoking the good contraband. I need to keep my lungs as clean as a whistle after all the Marlboro reds ( the soft packs were the best- smoother than the boxes) I enjoyed in the fabulous old days. Gummies are quite groovy, but that immediate high was a thing of beauty.sneptsmoustache wrote: ↑19 Jan 2026 23:02 pmSounds like a pretty good night as far as I’m concerned…similar to what I might do when I occasionally have the house to myself (well, when me and the dog have the house to ourselves)…a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do!Lets_Clinch wrote: ↑17 Jan 2026 22:22 pmHowever, I have been drinking wine and smoking weed; so I would completely understand if you don't agree with anything I just said. I’m gonna roller blade a few miles at lunch tomorrow. That always suits me later in the day a hell of a lot better than two pints of Guinness at the Lordsburg Taphouse.
Mailloux is a fantastic get. As anyone who has watched this progress has noticed, he is big, fast, has a fine shot, is fearless … and has spent a lot of time on his weakest suit- responsible defense. I applaud the youngster for working on the things that are difficult rather than polishing the skills that already suit him well.
He will be a fine fellow in the Bluenote for many, many years, I hope.
