Agreed. Wasn’t meaning to get in the middle of a disagreement. Think we may just have some different expectations of him at this point.

One thing I am sure we all agree on is that we hope he succeeds.

I just hope he’s getting the support he needs psychologically. He’s been through a lot and seems to have a fragile self-concept. Doesn’t seem like one of the guys/problems fitting in.MiamiLaw wrote: ↑14 Jan 2026 13:30 pm 1978, dh and Bubbles - I think we've reached a natural end to the discussion. Miami has a different viewpoint and you attacked him as a person. You state repeatedly I'm a sock puppet because you don't like some of my opinions. You are incapable of not assassinating a person who you disagree with. This makes you the lowest poster on this board. Flat out. Pure human [shirt]. Hiding behind a sock account is the deepest cowardice, like an admission you aren't a full enough person to be able to stand on your two feet. Every time it touched 23’s stick, it ended up back to Carolina. The shift where you said his backhand clear was knocked down. I wasn’t even counting that one.
He had two breakout passes prior to that. One hit Butch’s stick (89 not 29), and that one actually was on Buch on rewatch. Soft play. The next he just panic dumped out right to Carolina. Then the backhand knockdown you saw. Then he flubs a pass from Hofer and gives it right to Car.
Four times it touched 23’s stick. 4 times Carolina regained possession. Though again the first was more on Buch than I realized live.
Feel free to point out parts you saw him make a great play too. You said he played well in the first. I’d like to take a look. I’m trying to see what others are seeing that he is showing great potential.
They did get stuck on the ice too long in the second. He still didn't make any terrible plays during these two periods. As far as the long shift if you want to be critical of him then there are 4 other players on that shift that had chances to get pucks deep.
I'm also not expecting him to be a top 4 D right now and I also realize he's probably focusing on not making a mistake. Which he didn't.
1st Period
Mailloux playing LD
17:45-16:40, Mailloux completed pass to 29 who got the puck deep.
17:19 Mailloux completed pass to 51 who got puck deep
16:54 Mailloux pinched in and completed pass to 29
16:40 Kessel lost the puck battle and Mailloux blocked a shot and puck went out of play
12:37-12:04, 12:15 Mailloux keeps puck in ozone with Chip to Schenn. Schenn skates with puck towards blueline and loses the puck. Mailloux breaks up 2 on 1
11:15-10:40, 10:47 Mailloux completes pass to Kessel, Kessel deflects puck towards Jake but the puck bounces and Canes gain possession
9:47-9:40, Didn’t touch puck
8:31-7:59, Didn’t touch puck
6:05-4:38, 5:50 poke checked puck from Jarvis, 4:42 completed pass out of zone to 54
3:00-2:20, 2:39 Chipped puck to Stenberg in Dzone who chipped puck to where Schenn was, Schenn couldn’t gain control of puck
2nd period
Logan Mailloux playing LD
18:18 Mailloux takes penalty
16:18-15:30, 15:38 Hofer sent pass out of reach of Mailloux, Canes gain possession for a SOG
12:52-11:56, 12:21 54 passes puck to Mailloux in front of Blues net, Mailloux passes to 25 who then puts the puck on a Canes stick. Kessel was a part of 2 giveaways this shift that the announcers mentioned.
10:52-8:22, 10:10 Mailloux chips puck to Kessel on the boards who chips puck to 29 at blue line. Puck gets out but Canes have possession. 9:47 Mailloux chips puck to Kessel, Kessel flips puck outside blue line but Canes gain possession. 9:36 Hofer passes to Mailloux, Mailloux banks puck out to redline to Buch who tip the puck to center ice where the canes gain possession. 9:28 Kessel banks puck to Mailloux who chips puck out to blue line where Buch deflects puck to a Canes player just inside their blueline. 9:20 Mailloux lifts puck high towards blueline but Canes player knocks it down. 8:52 Mailloux tries to hit bouncing puck out of zone but puck is kept in. 8:49 Sunny attempts to poke puck out of zone. 8:48 Mailloux attempts to poke puck out of zone
6:49-5:44, 6:37 Mailloux pinches in and sends puck to corner. 6:04 Mailloux sends puck out of zone where 13 deflects puck in deep
3:29-3:00, Didn’t touch puck
But at least to the bolded part, come on man. At the very least you have to admit that was a misplay. He completely mishandled a routine bank pass from Hofer. The way you put this makes me think you are not being objective about this. "Tries to hit a bouncing puck"?? How about, "mishandles a ten foot bank off the boards from Hofer and fails to clear". That is a much more accurate description. Your descriptions of what is happening blame everyone except LM on that shift.
Is it your position that even though 4 times the puck was with him, and all four times the Canes ended up with possession right after, none of it was his fault at all? You seem to be able to point out when Kessel was making mistakes though (which I never claimed he didn't). In any event, I will review the other ones.
As far as the 4 touches if you are saying that’s on him then you need to be consistent and critique the other 7 players that were on the ice for parts of the 2.5 mins for what their role was during that time. It’s not all on Mailloux.![]()

Apparently two games ago against Vegas Montgomery thought that was Mailloux’s best game of the season. He played 20 mins that game. Add that to the last two games and even if it’s not been perfect he’s definitely trending the right direction.

Johnson was looking really good until he got too drunk and blew out his knee.

And Johnson still had a decent, long NHL career. However, I believe that knee injury really hampered his ability to stay on the ice.Jeff Goldblum wrote: ↑17 Jan 2026 05:59 amJohnson was looking really good until he got too drunk and blew out his knee.
A great example is his time in Colorado. Across 12 Full Seasons, he only played 695 Games. Not factored into that was the Avs acquiring him two separate times in mid-season acquisitions (2010/11 & 2024/25).
If we account for those partial seasons (2011-Johnson Avs 22/23, 2025-14/18), the 2012 Lockout (Johnson 30/48 Games) & COVID (2019/20-Johnson 59/70GP, 2020/21-Johnson 4/56 G), then Johnson on appeared in 76.7% (731/953) of all regular season games with the Avalanche.
When I looked up his Injury History, it is peppered with lots of knee, leg, and “lower body” injuries.
I for one don’t think it’s fair to compare a former #1 Overall Pick from twenty years ago to a twenty-two year old drafted at the end of the First Round. Not only is the game different, but there were 7 Defensemen taken ahead of Mailloux. He should be compared by his peers

Jeff it's a clear pattern with you - your posts go after people. You're a toxic element that makes it so that people who are thoughtful don't want to engage. You personally impoverish this forum. You might be (upset) that I'm calling it out. I don't care and you deserve it.
@ somni – thank you for the Hood River recs this weekend! we got a couple hikes in, one along a pipeline by the river and Labyrinth Falls on the WA side, then beers and fries at Full Sail. Broder Ost! Gravlax and hash. Great rec.

His hockey takes are casual at best anyways, though the vast majority of his posts are just him beefing with other posters. He either is not capable of having a real discussion or is playing a character who isn't. Either way, nothing is missed by ignoring him.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑19 Jan 2026 14:52 pmSays he joined 12/5/25, posts aggro b.s., moving on from another oneseattleblue wrote: ↑19 Jan 2026 14:24 pm Jeff it's a clear pattern with you - your posts go after people.
