R.I.P Phil Goyette

Post by Cajanek-Spielmacher »

2026 is starting to suck. 1st Glen Hall and now Phil Goyette (age 92). Personally I have already lost an uncle (94) and a cousin (70) this year. Go with God Mr. Goyette!

Goyette played for the Blues before I can remember. Looked him up and amazingly had only 123 PIM in 940 Games. Blues traded a 1st round pick for a 35 year old Goyette who had a career year in 69-70 with 78 points. Then they lost him to Buffalo in the expansion draft. I seem to remember Dan Kelly calling his name for an important goal that season. Maybe some of the older old timers can talk about his season in St. Louis. RIP!

Goyette was a slick center - think an older Adam Oates (but no Brett Hull). Fun to watch him the year he was here. My dad had season tix and i saw about 25 games - Phil could dish!

The year Goyette was here (69-70) was the first year the Blues had a strong power play and Goyette was the missing piece that got them there.

Yeas-the last comment was correct

Phil Goyette was brought in as “ a power play specialist” to run the power play.
