Re: Otter
It's like that seinfeld when Elaine promotes the guy from the mail room because she's too scared to fire him...

So, who takes responsibility for the power play now?

Re: Otter
The loyalty to this guy baffles me. They basically fired him without firing him.

Re: Otter
For the NHL Blues , hallelujah that we will get someone new running the power play & other strategies ..like maybe 6 on 5’s at the end of games . I think Ott is very well liked by players because as a player he practiced what he preached.
This group of players can’t play the style so I’m willing to give it a whirl in Springfield to see if those players respond.
We really can’t tell if it’s the players or the strategy are both so why not at this time make this change. Actually, the change should have been made months ago.
The AHL plays a much more rough & rumble style of hockey, more suitable for Otter being an example

Re: Otter
At this point almost any change is good. If he was in charge of the PP somebody else gets a shot now. You can see how other teams are effective including the Oilers. I don't understand why our coaches cannot get our guys to play that way- given of course the talent differences.
Same thing with breakouts, entering the Ozone, etc.

Re: Otter
Steve Ott is well liked around the franchise. When Kyrou and Buch suddenly turn into slugs and the team has most of its forwards injured im not sure what wizardry it would take to have a good PP. Does Ott control the PP personnel? My guess is no hes been saddled with lack of RH shots, poor talent, no chemistry not sure all this falls on him

Re: Otter
This might be a real kick in the pants to those guys actually on the Blues Roster
Re: Otter
Lack of right handed shots?!?!? Thomas, Kyrou, Snuggerrud, Faulk, Sunny (although not sure why he is on PP ever), Parayko, Mailloux, Bjugstad. I would say the Blues have more right handed options than left. Definitely more than most teams in league.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑19 Jan 2026 09:50 am Steve Ott is well liked around the franchise. Re: Otter
Thats right Snuggerud, Kyrou have both been hurt, now Thomas. As i mentioned in another thread one PP has Kyrou AND Snuggerud last night while other one had Sunny..... i would split up Kyrou and Snuggerud I would personally play Stenberg over Buchnoted wrote: ↑19 Jan 2026 09:58 amLack of right handed shots?!?!? Re: Otter
The reality of this move is Konowalchuk wasnt getting it done and having Ott down there will be a big benefit. He'll make sure that whatever Monty wants to implement is getting passed along to the younger guys. This is a positive move
