I watched the replay of Thursday's game vs Arky. HCKH should thank Mike Neighbors for going to the WNBA. Mizzou is now on a 2-game winning streak vs Arky & won its first SEC game of the season. (Before winning those two games, Mizzou was 0-12 vs Arky)
Mizzou blasted Arky out of the gate. Arky was stuck on 2 points then 4 points for most of the first quarter. Mizzou held a 30-9 lead in the 2nd quarter. Arky got back in the game, but Mizzou put them away. At one time we held a 31-point lead & looked like we were headed for 100. Clearing the bench & lackadaisical play (17 turnovers) left us short (94-69).
I think we look better this season, but the 0-4 SEC start didn't show it. We still have a star in Slaughter & have added some good pieces. Dowell is a very good PG (not as quick as Mama, but doesn't turn it over like Mama & can make a layup). Reisma is good down low (something Mizzou has lacked for years). We've got 3-point threats. Size & athleticism are not quite on par with the better SEC teams, but it looks like Harper knows what she's doing & hopefully building for the future.
