Re: My ask if we trade robert Thomas
Those are all pretty big asks. I see us getting a high end can't miss prospect and a first round pick at most. I don't believe we'd have to take salary back, but we might get a little more if we did.
Re: My ask if we trade robert Thomas
Thomas was playing at a 90-point pace last season.

Re: My ask if we trade robert Thomas
You dam right it is a huge ask why on gods green earth would we trade for 1 blue chip in and a first that is rental prices. He is top 15 center in the league and he has 4 seasons left at 8 million. Thats a huge reason why he gets 4 + first round picks. Every one agrees its going to hurt anyone or we dont trade him.... I am not sure you are a jedi more like padawan learner. Just kidding.hockey jedi wrote: ↑16 Jan 2026 09:05 am Those are all pretty big asks. I see us getting a high end can't miss prospect and a first round pick at most. Agree. I wouldn't be basing performance projections based on an injury riddled half season.Nublues69 wrote: ↑16 Jan 2026 09:22 amYou dam right it is a huge ask why on gods green earth would we trade for 1 blue chip in and a first that is rental prices. Re: My ask if we trade robert Thomas
Regarding his production this year:
1) He's obviously been playing injured for some time as Monty talked about the day of the Carolina game
2) The entire Blues roster is down this year and he still leads the team in scoring and has 27% more points than 2nd place despite playing less games. That's a higher difference than last year. Is his production really down that much or is the entire team dragging him down?
If they do trade him it has to be a home run of a return..
Carter Yakemchuk and Shane Pinto
Axel Sandin-Pellikka Trey Augustine and a 1st
Pavel Mintyukov and Mason McTavish
Oliver Kapanen and Michael Hage
Because if you aren't getting that kind of return there is absolutely no point in dealing him.

Re: My ask if we trade robert Thomas
i agree but the return will have to be higher especially if we take cap back. all of those include a 1st basically 4 1st pick type pieces.Walter Sobchak00 wrote: ↑16 Jan 2026 09:34 am Regarding his production this year:

Re: My ask if we trade robert Thomas
I don't see him being traded as the Blues would be a huge lurch at center ice if they did.
The Blues would absolutely need to be getting 1-2 NHL ready young centers back in the trade for it to make any kind of sense.
With Schenn likely being moved at some point, I can't see them also moving Thomas and having basically no quality veteran centers on the team.

Re: My ask if we trade robert Thomas
What I learned from Robert Thomas and this situation is that
- Elite 1C is very difficult to get
- Thomas is very likely not a 1C for a Cup Roster
- It sets the team back to pretend that you have a 1C
- Our best players are not as strong as the other team's best players
- In a trade, we will not get a "1C value" in return for Thomas, because every team likely knows what we now know.
The only way I trade Thomas is if we get some sort of chance at a legitimate 1C/100% 2C, or a 100% 2C. Otherwise, I just keep Thomas for our 2C.
Do your trades mentioned bring a 1C or sure 2C? Is that a base requirement for you?

Re: My ask if we trade robert Thomas
This Thomas trade talk is nothing….unless he wants out for reasons we don’t know.
He’s literally the one player we can’t afford to lose. I’m not going to explain why, if you don’t know then you haven’t been watching.

Re: My ask if we trade robert Thomas
Let’s put Suter at 1C until he’s traded then Devo should be ready. Followed by Sunny at 2C….unless he’s traded.dtkblueshockey wrote: ↑16 Jan 2026 09:51 am I don't see him being traded as the Blues would be a huge lurch at center ice if they did.

Re: My ask if we trade robert Thomas
Nice to see a thread with some pretty interesting trade proposals……
The only way I see the Blues trading him is if there is another team out there with a youngish #1 center that they don’t think they can sign long-term. The 5 years Thomas has left on his contract after this season would be really attractive to a team like that. Obviously that assumes this player would be willing to sign with the Blues. Of course I have no idea who this player is or which team he plays for, but maybe that’s my project for this afternoon as I try to kill off the work week.
