Dream Trade Partner: Anaheim?

Post by a smell of green grass »

Anaheim has an overabundance of young prospects (maybe). They possibly don't need more picks in the 2026 draft (maybe).

They need a veteran presence on Defense like Faulk or Parayko.

Here would be my dream trade, possibly wishful thinking.

Faulk or Parayko in return for

Stian Solberg LHD (Fowler replacement)
Round 1 #7
Round 2 #39

I’m also not in 6 grade, and I’m also not a girl.

So don’t care.

Hadn’t heard of Stian Solberg, and seeing as he was picked 23rd Overall in the 2024 Draft, I was curious why you’d pine for this particular LHD. His scouting profile is tantalizing…
What defines Solberg above everything else is his mean streak. He’s not content just repelling opponents. He wants them to be as close as possible, as it’s then easier for him to press his stick in their back. He inflicts pain every chance he gets, immobilizes opponents, and knocks them away from the front of the net. -EliteProspects 2024 NHL Draft Guide
he plays a heavy, old-school game and is a menacing hitter with a clinical hip-check
Draftin Europe 2023
Elite Prospects identifies him as a 6’-2” 205 lbs Defensive Defenseman who’s a Heavy Hitting PK Specialist. So, all of that sounds like fun. However, I doubt you’re getting that haul for Faulk or Parayko at this juncture.

Most likely, that First Round Pick is a Protected Top 10, if you’re even able to get it. Both Faulk (34 in March) & Colt55 (33 in May) will have a little more gray on their chests before they enter the Stanley Cup Playoffs this year.

Out of the two of them, Parayko is the most likely to get you that haul, but is that worth it? Faulk definitely, but him being an RFA after 26/27 and his age makes that less likely.

I'm guessing that my trade would not fly with Anaheim, but I'd give it a 25% chance. However, maybe a different deal could be found. Anaheim is an exceptionally good trade partner for the Blues. They are overflowing in what we need. They are also one of the few teams that legitimately has little need for additional prospects. Veteran leadership is what they feel that they are missing. Schenn would be a want from them too.

I like Solberg because we need a net front bulldozer, and a guy that would discourage the other team from taking shots at the Kyrou's.

Faulk and Parayko and Schenn are all poor trade baits. Good yes, but worth a high #1? However, they have a lot more value than a Round 2 pick. If we can't get a Round 1 pick for them, then I would keep them. We need people to train our prospects too.

Hage is the only #1 center there…I’d love to have him but I don’t see Montreal moving him at any costs
Reinbacher might be #1 dman…hard to say at this point. Yakemchuck will be a solid top 4 and a weapon on the PP. the rest of those guy are all 2nd and 3rd pairing
With Philly I’m looking at Jack Berglund, Nesbitt, Murtagh, and Vansaghi and maybe Bonk on defense . I’m leery of Luchanko at this point.

I would want to keep Hage is I was Montreal but getting Thomas as your 2C certainly improves their forwards lines and he is only 26. Thomas I would think makes Montreal a contender straight away. If I’m the Blues I want Hage, Reinbacher and a 1st for Thomas

Hage is gonna be a legit stud. Thomas definitely makes them strong down the middle. If you’re dealing Thomas that’s the kind of player you have to get back.

Agreed, I wouldn’t trade Thomas for a lesser package.

They have holes we could fill, but would Thomas, Kyrou, Buch, or Parayko waive to play there? I could see Faulk in a trade to PHI, but do they really want him and what would they be willing to give? Goalies?
