Thunderbirds vs Checkers Jan 14th

Post by Bluesfan1978 »

I only watched the first two Periods.
Goalies had a rough game.
On D Lindstein made some nice passes, has some bite to his game.
The other D had a rough game
Forwards
Dean stood out the most. I’m clouds g his goal he had 3 scoring chances. He’s a puck hound. Good positional awareness, plays hard, has speed, 200 foot game, good passes. Still seems rusty. Didn’t look great on faceoffs. Probably rusty. Shot whether it’s timing or not doesn’t look great.
Pekarcik looked good playing with Dean on the 4th line. He also was on the second PP. Has speed, won some battles, made a few good passes
Kaskimäki looked good, lots of speed, played LD on PP 1. Also was in the PK
Peterson had some flashes winning puck battles, drives to the net. Might be a 4th liner someday
Stancl I didn’t get to see do much. Moves around the ice good enough but didn’t have any opportunities with the puck, might be due to linemates. A couple defensive plays if he had another 1-2 step he may have prevented a goal. Didn’t look bad though. He actually looks like a tank out there. Was disappointed he wasn’t in any of the PP’s.
The vets in the teams didn’t stand out to me at all.

An identical shellacking as the previous evening except the meltdown was in the second and not the first period. Zherenko has really struggled the last two outings. There is a reason Rosen has not been called up.

The D as a whole do not look good at all. Lindstein is the only bright spot and he needs to keep getting stronger. Skinner makes some good plays but then looks really rough on others. Last year I think Ellis was MVP of the team so he covered the team’s weaknesses.

Thanks for posting.

Everything you mentioned about Dean is what I've observed and thought about his game. He was decent in his brief NHL stint a couple years ago. Plagued by injury and something else... But a good smart player in the mold of Schwartz. He was my sort of dark horse to make the team this year out of camp. Then he went into the player assistance program... Glad to hear he's doing well while shaking off the rust. Hitting on him at 3C would be massive.

Amen. He was my dark horse for two years running. A small town kid from the Maritimes who got lost in the shuffle from Vegas to us.
Smart, tough, strong, and skilled.

One other area of improvement for Dean is he doesn’t seem to be bouncing of players like he was two years ago. Probably added some weight and strength.
