Suzy is in already.leedog68 wrote: ↑14 Jan 2026 18:28 pm I get wht some of you are saying about only the most elite players should be in the HOF. Was Bob Plager good enough? I don't know if he was ever even an all star. But he belongs there. Maybe a lifetime achievement catagory for people like Chase, Suzy Mathieu (sp?), Tommy Woodcock etc.
Chase is in.
I have no problem letting him in the Blues HOF….but I am leaning towards not retiring his number.
Dan Kelly has a shamrock, Wickenheiser has a lit candle….i have no problem hanging a symbol up in the rafters but not his number.
Think of the watered down Cardinal HOF. They don’t retire the numbers….now the Cardinals are electing players for special moments.
The team Hall of Fames are for the fans.
As far as Gassoff is concerned, it was a knee jerk reaction at the time. The organization was devastated as were the fans. Gassoff was widely regarded as THE TOUGHEST PLAYER in the entire league. He was really coming into his own and he hadn’t even reached his ceiling. Think of it as similar to Broberg…..Broberg has really come into his own but you know that there is still more room to grow and he’ll be even better a couple years from now. My older brother actually had a Gassoff Jersey when I was growing up. He and Unger were our favorite players.

Never saw Gassoff lose a fight. We were season ticket holders that split the tickets so I only saw 1/2 of the home games. Not all of the road games were televised back then either. Remember Gasser giving Paul Holmgren a brutal beating in Philadelphia. Was told on hockey fights site that he lost one or two fights. The only Gassoff fight I saw that he did not clearly win was a few months before he died. He fought Grant Mulvey in Chicago. They went toe to toe. I'd call it a draw.Bubble4427 wrote: ↑14 Jan 2026 19:03 pmSuzy is in already.leedog68 wrote: ↑14 Jan 2026 18:28 pm I get wht some of you are saying about only the most elite players should be in the HOF. Honestly, if Gassoff is in then Chase can. It's just sad as you can tell his days are numbered sooner than later and it would have been a great night for him. But Chaser is awesome and at least he knows how the Blues and all the fans really feel for him.

If you're going to have a franchise HOF you're going to have some controversy. Not that this is that but for others.
Most of that lessons after more and more honorees are voted in.
As for Kelly, I seriously doubt he's wanting any appearance of handouts for sake of his illness and is just fine with his status here in the Lou.
And I think his day may well come too for his on and off ice accomplishments.

He should be in based on his contributions to the community and his battle with cancer. He talks about how much the city means to him on their podcast. If he said he doesn't want in just because he is sick, I can respect that.dhsux wrote: ↑14 Jan 2026 22:38 pm If you're going to have a franchise HOF you're going to have some controversy. Chaser has done a TON for the hockey AND the St. Louis community. He was integral - along with Tony Sansone and Jim Hermann - in starting the Gateway Locomotives hockey program, for example. Now better known as the Blues Special Hockey Club, it was created as a learn to play program for youth and adults with developmental disabilities.

Entire league was juicing back then.

Reading about chase has been super depressing. Him talking about losing his vision and crying for days and that he essentially has eczema on the inside of his body because it’s attacking itself … was too much.
Man I feel for him and his family/friends
