And also let’s be honest, it was Twist not really Kelly and his good buddy w a good heart in Brett Hull is going above and beyond the make Kelly seem more than he was.
Kelly chase would be a southern pro league player today. Not even east coast. And he really was not a true heavyweight. He was a mid tier scrapper.

A true Blue to the core. Chase absolutely deserves to be honored and remembered. I don't personally care if that's with the Blues HOF or with a banner, as long as there is something.
When living in Detroit in the 2010s, I spent many evenings at work listening to Chaser on the radio. He would get me so mad at the refs when he would start laying into them lol. And his fighting days with the Blues were during my formative years of getting into hockey as a kid in St Louis. Total nostalgia remembering Ken Wilson calling a Chaser fight. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess, but he's a legend in my book.
Edit: A little off topic but that just gave me flashbacks to my grandpa mailing me VHS tapes of Blues games in the 1990s so I could watch them when I lived out of town (army brat). Good times. No matter where I went, at least I had the Blues with me.

Watched the entire ceremony and very happy the Blues honored Kelly Chase while he is still here with us. Hopefully, he will also get honored into the Blues HOF at some point. It would be nice if Kelly's contributions to the organization gets recognized twice.
As far as Gasser goes, happy he is in the Blues HOF. The Blues were still a relatively new organization when the accident happened. Gasser was also one of the top enforcers in the league and emerging as a very good defenseman. His accident devasteted the organization. Take a look at the team's record the following 2 years. It was a big deal at that time.
All awards are popularity contests to some extent. I'll only argue to include those I feel worthy. Don't see the point of criticizing those inlcuded. Others may see their contributions differently which is fine.

Also, what he did off the ice, for this team and community.Konstantinov wrote: ↑14 Jan 2026 09:57 am They gave him an award, but didn't put him in the Blues HOF. I know enforcers aren't normally inducted, but this would be a very special case to just go ahead and do it while he's still alive. It's not the NHL Hall of Fame, after all. Yes, he doesn't have alot of goals or assists, but the guy put his health on the line every night to go out and represent St. Louis. Classic fights against Marchment, Grimson, Rob Ray, etc. I know the NHL tries not to glamorize fighting in today's woke world. But now that Chaser's health is failing from cancer, it sure would be a uplifting night for him to get him in the Hall of Fame.
When he came out for the cancer awareness game, i did tear up, especially seeing Butcher holding back the tears. Chase is 1 hell of a human being, regardless of hockey , his love for the town and blue note, and the fact that He is one hell of a human being and it's sad to see cancer stealing his life, slowly. I didnt recognize him, and you could recognize chaser from a block down the street.
They retired Bob G number, and chase has done a ton more for community, franchise, etc. No slight to Bob g, but i think Kelly deserves his spot from a humanitarian spot.

Yeah that retiring of his number was just bizarre and would never happen today.AtillaTheBlue1 wrote: ↑14 Jan 2026 16:54 pm They retired Bob G number, and chase has done a ton more for community, franchise, etc. No slight to Bob g, but i think Kelly deserves his spot from a humanitarian spot.

I know. I know. I usually don’t take the bait, but I just couldn’t hold off. It’s very easy to look back and criticize, but if you weren’t around at the time S[top] T[hose] F[raudulent] U[tterances]. I respect Hazelwoods opinion on this subject because he was around at the time
Re: Why didn't the Blues Hall of Fame just induct Chase?
Not throwing dirt. Terrible what happened to him. That bothers you more than calling Twist roid boy? Why?
Re: Why didn't the Blues Hall of Fame just induct Chase?
Speaking of Twist. In my reffing days, I reffed a game where he was a coach (I assume he had a kid on the team). Had to waive off a goal in a close game and Twist could not have been more professional about it. Honestly I thought he’d take my head off. Really showed the kind of guy he is.

I get wht some of you are saying about only the most elite players should be in the HOF. Was Bob Plager good enough? I don't know if he was ever even an all star. But he belongs there. Maybe a lifetime achievement catagory for people like Chase, Suzy Mathieu (sp?), Tommy Woodcock etc.

For me it’s more about retiring numbers. Blues HOF means little to me.leedog68 wrote: ↑14 Jan 2026 18:28 pm I get wht some of you are saying about only the most elite players should be in the HOF. But yeah Gasser having his number retired as an example is inappropriate on a number of levels
Re: Why didn't the Blues Hall of Fame just induct Chase?
Gassoff's number was retired by the Blues ss part of a wrongful death settlement.
