Sounds good. Go blues.
It’s not a dig at him. It is what it is. It’s genetics mostly. He’s a kid still. 19-year-olds like Schaefer are doing great and I’d bet he’s dipping into the 170’s after some games/periods.
It’s takes time and commitment to develop your body and fight your genetics for many guys.

Seattle, you are 100% correct about the post-draft year sequence with both Petro and Jiricek. I think what Harry is trying to say is that while that might be true, Petro played 2/3 of his D+3 year at 21 years old (Jan birthday), while Jiricek will play all of next season at 20 (June birthday).
Along with Petro getting NHL trials in his first 2 post-draft years, Petro was further along by the start of his D+3 year in terms of experience and age. So the better comparison might be to see how Jiricek's D+4 season aligns with Petro's D+3 year.
Either way, I think we can all agree that if Jiricek establishes himself as a near sure thing top-pair defender by the end of the 27/28 season (his D+4 year), we would all be very excited for his future.
No im just saying compare both players if we are going to constantly do that by AGE not by OHL, NHL 9 game stint whatever none of that matters. I cant compare Jiricek at 20 yrs old to AP at 21 (January bday draft year). I would hope in two seasons that Jiricek is capable of 10 NHL goals but i would also say if the Blues are terrible bottom feeders again who knows

I understand, it's not legitimate. 5 months? That is not significant. It goes by development year.
There's also another element in play here; Harry has a track record of being Top Kool Aid on Jiricek based on selective and selectively-heard reports while I am even handed from observing tons of his play directly.

You’re dealing with a guy who said Broberg is the best Dman since Pronger. A guy who legitimately tattooed Ryan O’reilly’s face on his body (I’ve seen it and its hilarious).

But will Jiricek get as many Lady Bing votes lol. APs career high, 70 Hits wow. And this (bleep) poster is around about weight?????
Just to educate you a bit his career high is 90 not 70, and Chris Pronger threw about 70 hits per year. When you’re smarter than everyone and have a better stick than everyone…you play on your strengths.
1,200+ games in the NHL and ZERO fighting majors
The supposed “team leader” pouts when his team makes a trade to improve the team defense (Faulk) and gets his feelings hurt and says it’s a slap in the face….that’s a self centered outlook…not a team oriented one.
Petro makes numerous salary demands and refuses to negotiate on any of them and then cries when his former team shops elsewhere.
Supposed team leader admits to not picking up a stick during the shutdown and looks horrible during the Stanley Cup COVID playoffs.
Player skipped 4 nations tourney and then comes back to play for Vegas game 1 after the break….some leader.
Petro….great defenseman. Average leader…..selfish teammate.
1,200 games and no fighting majors….biggest pu55y ever to be referred to as a “Boss”
Laughing…
I can’t wait to see Jiricek. I’m excited for the young man’s future.
As a fan who has previously bought the hype on young prospects only to be disappointed by what they didn’t amount …I’m in no rush to call this pick or any other a steal until the player proves it when it really matters.
Very glad he is tracking much better but have some perspective or your opinions on the matter aren’t worthy of respect.
I personally think the concerns about his size are a waste of time and always have been, he is/was a kid. He'll get size. Height and skill are something I'd look at but not weight at that age and if I did I would be more interested in the skinny underdeveloped kids if they were having the same success
Ive really never understood why we think being matured early is a good indicator of later success. I think the opposite.
I worry more about a Carbonneau being in a mans body dominating kids translating to dominating men. I actually see it as a plus that Jiricek is still skinny and dominating with skills. Seems to me that makes it more likely he translates it to the NHL.
I don't really care at all if they dominate JR because they mature early.

I agree with concern about kids in man’s body dominating other kids. However I do have concern about the skinny as rail boys. Some of these body types can’t put on significant/necessary muscle without PEDs.
Different sport but the Cards drafted a highly touted kid several years back who dropped in the draft over fears he couldn’t add weight. Those fears became reality and he never possessed the power to hit at the MLB level.
Jiricek is still young enough but dude just seems light for his height. Young Pronger was too iirc so we’ll see soon enough.

You mean Perez, Carlson, and Hudson all in the same 1st round?
Jiricek has shown he's more than strong enough against his peers and held up against men at 17. Looked sturdy in the preseason. Compare him to Kyrou who goes flying when someone looks at him but is listed at 195lb.
I'd just like to see him be more sturdy than Broberg by the time he's the same age.

Level headed. I remember the hype about Jamie Rivers being a steal when he was just lighting it up in Sudbury. When he got to the show, things changed drastically. It's great to see Jiricek's success but especially with d men I am tempering expectations.

Wait so he did not even get a fighting major for this?
6'3 185 at 19 yrs old, no problem at all. He'll put on another 10-15 lbs this summer if the Blues want him to.
The real question is how long will it take Jiricek to surpass Lady Bing's career high of 70 Hits in a season? Idk, 45 games into Jiriceks first full season?
