Along with Petro getting NHL trials in his first 2 post-draft years, Petro was further along by the start of his D+3 year in terms of experience and age. So the better comparison might be to see how Jiricek's D+4 season aligns with Petro's D+3 year.

Either way, I think we can all agree that if Jiricek establishes himself as a near sure thing top-pair defender by the end of the 27/28 season (his D+4 year), we would all be very excited for his future.

No im just saying compare both players if we are going to constantly do that by AGE not by OHL, NHL 9 game stint whatever none of that matters. I cant compare Jiricek at 20 yrs old to AP at 21 (January bday draft year). I would hope in two seasons that Jiricek is capable of 10 NHL goals but i would also say if the Blues are terrible bottom feeders again who knows

As a fan who has previously bought the hype on young prospects only to be disappointed by what they didn’t amount …I’m in no rush to call this pick or any other a steal until the player proves it when it really matters.

Height and skill are something I'd look at but not weight at that age and if I did I would be more interested in the skinny underdeveloped kids if they were having the same success

Jiricek has shown he's more than strong enough against his peers and held up against men at 17. Looked sturdy in the preseason. Compare him to Kyrou who goes flying when someone looks at him but is listed at 195lb.

I'd just like to see him be more sturdy than Broberg by the time he's the same age.

Level headed. I remember the hype about Jamie Rivers being a steal when he was just lighting it up in Sudbury. When he got to the show, things changed drastically. It's great to see Jiricek's success but especially with d men I am tempering expectations.

6'3 185 at 19 yrs old, no problem at all. He'll put on another 10-15 lbs this summer if the Blues want him to.
