He’s been bailed out multiple times this year aggressively playing the puck including a goal that was over turned.

Since trends often continue into second season if the Blues make the playoffs I can just imagine his luck running out at the worst possible time

Well that was definitely a different outcome than I expected. A few key points I saw:

1. Blues had more puckluck than I've seen all season and they deserved it by creating more North/South momentum than I've seen all season. They were either blocking shots or pushing away from their own goal up the ice, which instigated situations creating puckluck potential. Hence the 31 shots against one of the most suffocating opponents in the NHL.

2. Hofer was unreal. lol

Wish they'd play like that every game. Who knows, maybe it's the start of something new.... lol

Blues ahead on shots

No clue what the exact north/south message was that Oshie was commentating about, which he said Monty was trying to instill into their game, but this is how I've been screaming for them to play all season long. The last game against Vegas with 1 minute left they literally passed the puck 10x amongst one another before taking a shot. Tonight, they're thinking North/South first and east/west second and what do you know, when you're opponent doesn't KNOW you're just going to pass it, the passing lanes open up. Like a completely different team.

That and Hofer pitching a shutout thus far that is.

EDIT- looks like they FINALLY switched back to a zone defense again which is causing all the blocked shots and helping the transition game!

It sure looked Iike the Blues played a zone defense tonight to me also.
I hope they stay that way but we will see the next game if it stays that way..

He's been nursing some sort of lower body injury for awhile. He's had a couple of maintenance days recently. They said they are trying to nurse it along until the Olympics which should give him time to rest.

Tony, I had also thought that Thomas was playing through injury. He’s just not as crisp and energetic as in the past.

I also think Parayko’s playing through injury as well.

Just curious, are you Enrico’s brother? He did a fabulous job singing the Star Spangled Banner at that game in LA years ago! He was a pretty good umpire, too!

Man this team when it decides to play man they look tough… man I wish I saw this effort every game

I don’t see the Blues issue being effort. Most of the lineup cares and tries. The main issues with the Blues has been consistent goaltending (most of the time Binnington starts) and goal scoring (major injury bug and underperforming).

Sprinkle in some really sloppy coverage/turnover guys like Faulk, Mailloux, and Tucker……

Tonight we found the back of the net in the 2nd and Hofer was a rock. The team also bared down once we got that 1st goal and protected the net/blocked shots well.

They still only got one ES goal and one PP goal. Not out of the woods yet but there were some good signs. Kids and Kyrou played well, and of course Hofer. It obviously helped having Bjugstad back but he was only 4 of 14 on faceoffs. Dvorsky, Snuggs, Stenberg, and Neighbours all played well all over the ice. That 4-pass rush and goal was a thing of beauty.
