What we need in the draft

Post by a smell of green grass »

became very evident last night.

We need somebody that can check Stone into the doctor's office.

Give me a big defenseman, please.

The Blues can hit missing Holloway hurts a little in that dept. Mailloux will be back, Tucker, Jake what's the Blues sorely need is a top skill guy from this draft. Ivar, puck hound with speed and skill could probably play right away

I don't know. I would be looking for the guy that takes no prisoners. I would scout Veorhoff, Belchez, Carels, etc and find out who enjoys contact.

Anybody have an opinion on that?

It doesn't matter who they draft as long as kids can put his name on the jerseys.

Jiricek, Carbonneau, Ralph, Fisher, Peterson may all be hitters.
I think they draft Stenberg if he's available. Next would be Lawerence or one of the D

Belchetz is your guy. Verhoeff is Erik Johnson. Carels is the whole package on defense…and I mean the whole package.

Im ready for some of your (and others) mocks and breakdowns.
If we have the opportunity i hope army doesnt look at the top of the draft and think “ill fix the petro problem and they will love me again” we need a difference maker.

I’m shocked Stones “shredded” back held up enough for that hit.

It’s gonna take more than just one draft

It’s gonna take a few drafts and multiple first rounders in each draft but no time is better than right now.

Sure. I’m just saying, a post saying we need this position or that position more is like p**g in the wind. Just take BPA and move on.

Agreed.

To the OP, let's not draft based upon one opponent. We may need hitting, but we also need pretty much everything else. Especially speed, high IQ, shooters, skill in general. Guys with swagger wouldn't hurt.

More I read, the more interested I am in starting with someone like Carels who - I assume - can become a #1 and let everyone around him settle into lesser roles. Hockey teams are so much easier to build (amd watch) when you have a Petro or Pronger to build around.

We don't solve the problem of essentially bypassing 20 years of NHL drafts in 1 draft. That is for sure.

Regarding who we pick, it's got to be somebody big IMO. After seeing Kryou knocked into uselessness, and likely seeing Schenn leave, we do not have nearly enough bite. The last thing I want to see is McKenna boarded with zero payback.
