All of the posts above and yours are very good. From my recollection, yes Monty was the Power Play developer back then. He can do that on his own. (Geez where did all of these voices behind the bench and in practice come from??) Ott is the constant the past 3 seasons. Let Ott go IMMEDIATELY. That should strengthen in any players' minds that the Head Coach is here and if they want to be here then they have to get playing. Don't hire anyone else to replace Ott.Rollin' on the River wrote: ↑10 Jan 2026 07:50 am I’d start with canning Ott and going from there.
I’m not really sure what Ott’s coaching message is, but it’s not working either.
I’d fire Ott and go from there
I don't know enough about the D coach, but I will say the results are not there, so watch & reevaluate him closely and start looking for another. But I have no idea what the heck the strategy is the past few months, so hopefully he just simplifies and gets back to basics. And similarly defensive zone strategy involves forwards too, so really Montgomery should be able to develop that and lead its implementation. The D-Coach should be there to guide individual's play...pointing out what they may be missing, or to work on, or to do differently, etc. in order to fit into the overall scheme; while Monty is doing the same with forwards.
I don't know enough about goalie coaches in general, other than evidently a psychology degree may be beneficial and pointing out reminding fine points of technique. I've heard good things, but it seems any reports about who's great around this team lately are suspect, so I'll withhold my thoughts on our Goalie Coach.
I'll summarize: Too many voices, too many rudder orders, figure out who compliments whom, put them together & keep them together and let them go. And Inglewood Jack is right, loosen the reins, but a couple of more thoroughbreds are needed to.
