Looks more like Coach open up the bathroom door and Hofer was sitting there on the toilet

Did we ever think that they are trying to get Binny right so they can get something more than a bag of pucks for Binny who has clearly declined.
Binny will be a Rock star in Blues fans eyes forever because of the cup. The Blues will retire his number and he may even make the HOF one day but he is wore out his welcome with most fans.

Don’t forget Hofer was Swiss cheese the first part of the season. This team just sucks and gives up grade a scoring chance after the next. In other words, they’re not helping either goalie.

As of early January 2026, the St. Louis Blues have scored 110 goals in the current 2025-26 NHL season, ranking 32nd in the league. Might make it a little tough for either goalie to win. That's for the season. Not just December. Just sayin'. No offense.

Dave, you and Kariyadog are both correct. It’s simply a bad team this year. Poor defense and lack of scoring.Blues Dave wrote: ↑09 Jan 2026 02:32 am

While it wasn’t on my radar screen, apparently the moves made by Army last summer messed up the team’s psyche —or something. The only other thing I can put my finger on would be nagging injuries to Parayko and Thomas. But that’s just spitballing on my part — don’t know if that’s true or not.
With Buchy and Kyrou, well “they are who we thought they were”.

Maybe you don’t realize that 90% of your posts are when the Blues are struggling and are way over the top to make it seem like the team is worse than it is.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑08 Jan 2026 18:52 pmSomeone's a bit touchy. ————————————————————————————
On the flip side, Binner has had a .851% since 12/1.
Jordan Binnington has the 5th worst save % since the start of the season. He’s ranked even lower since December 1st.
To make things worse, every single goalie in the top 10 in the worst save % list is in the 14-17 range for number of games played. Only Markstrom from NJ comes close to Binnington’s 26 starts at 22!!!!!!!!!!!!
To gift Binnington at least 5 non back to back starts since December 1st is one of the most incomprehensible decisions I’ve seen from a Blues coach regarding picking your starters in my life.
This all comes at a time when the Blues season is on the line. They NEED wins now, not to have their momentum and confidence ruined. Montgomery deserves to be fired over this alone (of course he won’t).

And I didn't realize I was a troll. Didn't know you could troll the teams you're a fan of...
And on a more serious note, since, admittedly, I often jest and don't take message boards too seriously, I think Hofer has definitely earned the starting role. At least for now...
If I’m missing your support of the Blues posts…..my bad
Re: Joel Hofer is ranked 5th in the NHL
The Blues started the year out scoring at a high rate then right when it was later confirmed by Monty that they switched up their system to a man to man (road trip in November) was the exact point the goals have dropped off.Blues Dave wrote: ↑09 Jan 2026 02:32 am

They changed their system and playing style to limit the prime chances because both goalies were complete (bleep). That ended up taking away the offensive momentum and confidence of many of the players on a team that badly lacks real “goal scorers”.
Then the injuries came and now the Blues cant score with any consistency no matter what offensive strategy they try to use.
Re: Joel Hofer is ranked 5th in the NHL
I feel like Hofer has been getting starter like ice time for a few weeks now. Binner played the second night of a back to back and got a shutout. It made sense to go back to him in that case. Then he has an awful night (though I don't know what he can do about all the deflected goals). Certainly Hofer should be the guy, but we have seen this before. I seem to remember a year where Allen had basically taken the net from Binner only to have Binner look like a stud in the playoffs. Goalies are hard to figure anyway and Binner is even more so. He's only 32 however and there is no reason to think that he can't still by the guy. He sure isn't at the moment, however.

Nothing like a good old-fashioned Goalie Controversy to keep the keyboards humming.

Re: Joel Hofer is ranked 5th in the NHL
I started a thread asking if anyone knew why they made the switch from zone to man2man after the previous system worked so well once they figured it out last season. This is the first insight I've seen as to why they actually did it and now it makes sense. I don't agree with it one bit and they need to switch back imo but at least now there's some logic behind it.stlblue06 wrote: ↑09 Jan 2026 10:18 amThe Blues started the year out scoring at a high rate then right when it was later confirmed by Monty that they switched up their system to a man to man (road trip in November) was the exact point the goals have dropped off.Blues Dave wrote: ↑09 Jan 2026 02:32 am

And not only am I a 100% Blues fan I'm one of the few who believes there's enough talent on this team to be a playoff contender--when they're all healthy and playing up to their capabilities. Hence, the problem with this season, other than Faulk and lately Thomas and Hofer, no one's playing up to what they're capable. Hard to be positive when there's a broken system, the worst offense in the NHL, worst goal differential, star Dman is still without a goal on the season, and the team is still missing top-9 forwards to injury.

I agree - i think many of his starts are with the notion of improving his trade value. IMO Monty should have held him for a start this weekend and the back-to-back games. Now he either has to play JH both games or run JB back out. Not very well thought out.bluecard04 wrote: ↑08 Jan 2026 19:14 pm Did we ever think that they are trying to get Binny right so they can get something more than a bag of pucks for Binny who has clearly declined.

Not after tonight he's not.

That .826 save percentage tonight sure is going to hurt that ranking
