SEC's had a rough stretch of several years in playoffs. Losing in one heck of a semifinal game it's another disappointing playoff and the rep of the SEC has lost a lot of it's luster. going to have to rethink how they go about things especially with SEC championship game, is it worth much anymore or does it hurt the teams involved with more chance of injury?
Ton of talented teams but just wasn't as competitive once they got into playoffs as we thought. Oh well. Wait till next year is the annual cry!

I don't think that falling short of the last two teams standing indicates the SEC has lost anything. So they won't win the NC this year for the (gasp) third straight year. The shame.
Re: vaunted SEC OUT of Playoffs before Final
No reasonable person could look at the postseason and not conclude the SEC is down in a big way. Alabama lost 38-3 to Indiana. Oklahoma blew a 17-0 lead against that pathetic Alabama team. Texas A&M scored 3 points against Miami.
And in the bowl games, Missouri lost to Virginia, Vanderbilt lost to Iowa, and Tennessee lost to Illinois, which got blown out by Indiana.
Not to mention the 5 terrible teams at the bottom of the conference.
And while Ole Miss put up a spirited battle against Miami, they got dominated at the LOS and in TOP. Only 4 dropped INTs kept them in the game, 1 of which should have been a pick 6 and 2 others were like picking fruit and got juggled before being dropped.

A couple of things:
1.) When you load the 12 team CFP with some of the teams outside the SEC, you are basically guaranteeing that the SEC will eat itself some. Single elim. bracket play also creates more chance for outlier games.
2.) The SEC was pretty strong as always, but beat each other up a lot. Look up and down the records. The 1-2-3 loss teams almost all.came at the hands of each other.
3.) Playoff byes are a huge disadvantage for the teams getting them. Too long of a break between meaningful football and the teams they face have just won a competitive game.
4.) Bowl games??? Lol
Those are a joke anymore. Kids don't even stick around for those anymore. They are nothing but an exhibition game where the schools can get some money.
5.) Does the B10 have a couple nice teams, yes. Miami also looks good. But, put those teams in the SEC and they'd finish the year with more losses and wouldn't have such an easy path in to the CFP.

Alabama lost 38-freaking3. You can't sugarcoat that. Where was UGA's usually stout D against Ole Miss? Blew it. Where was Ole Miss' D against Miami? Almost nonexistent. And where was 11-1 A&M's mighty offense against Miami? Nearly nonexistent. 3 points.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑09 Jan 2026 13:20 pmDisagree Icon.icon wrote: ↑09 Jan 2026 11:29 am No reasonable person could look at the postseason and not conclude the SEC is down in a big way. This kind of stuff didn't used to happen against SEC teams. And give me a break about the now "meat grinder" myth of the SEC. Not so much anymore with 5 terrible teams at the bottom and lackluster play in the trenches. Bama had no OLine. UGA had no DLine. When's the last time that happened?
Re: vaunted SEC OUT of Playoffs before Final
Alabama was a deeply flawed team that got smoked. No question.
Georgia's defense was fine against the Rebels until they weren't. A case of too much Ole Miss.
TAMU's offense blew away with Miami's in the winds.
The biggest playoff surprise was Ohio State getting pushed around by Miami. That Buckeye team was coming off a NC, had talent everywhere, will have four or five #1 draft picks this year, and returns Jeremiah Smith and their QB. They were my pick to win it all and they face planted. It happens.
To me it's a case of the SEC being better but the B10 having the top teams.

Single elimination playoffs help foster parity. Who knew, besides anyone that follows the NFL or college basketball.

The B1G has things figured out from the standpoint of the CFP - SOS means not only nothing, it's a negative. So what does the SEC do? Add another conf game with a requirement the OOC games include a P4 team. Makes no sense. Don't see the trend of the B1G winning changing.

Yup. Oregon's biggest win to get into the CFP? A 2 point win at Iowa. That's all it took.JackBolly wrote: ↑09 Jan 2026 20:24 pm The B1G has things figured out from the standpoint of the CFP - SOS means not only nothing, it's a negative. So what does the SEC do?
