Cool experience for him. He will get rest though, as they are not a contender and will be eliminated sooner than the top teams.

Yea this will be cool for Dvorsky. They will get beat pretty bad but there's nothing like getting to represent your country in the sport you love. These guys will have some fresh experiences that hopefully is a change of pace they can bring back with them. Definitely positives.

Good for him. Give him some time to get away from the dumpster-fire team he’s stuck on right now.

Many Blues are going, but not Robert Thomas. That has to hurt

Good for him. More experience playing against the best and with teammates full of pride and effort. He's young. He'll recover quickly. And yes they won't be there for final games. And hopefully some of his family and longtime friends can show up...that's important for a young guy too.

If it hurts, he sure isn't playing with a chip on his shoulder about it.

He has a great shot. Hope to see it more in the future. Might be a special player if he unleashes it more often.

He looks like he is playing through an injury. Doesn't look comfortable out there at all. I know he missed a practice this week.

When does he ever show much emotion?

We have few players that do.

And that's part of the problem.

He has several gears, and his emotions elevate his game on bigger stages. Watching him in the WJC vs OHL was almost confusing. He looked really bored in the OHL compared to completely engaged playing crease to crease as the leader of Team Slovakia. I can agree that he seems quiet and seems to be going with the role of "rookie who keeps his mouth shut and lets the vets lead" - but I can see he's taking more on with his play as the weeks progress.

It does seem like he's been hampered by a minor injury lately though, now that it's been mentioned.

Slovakia doesn't have a whole lot on their team, so he'll have a chance to show what he's got with some other young NHLers. Should be a great experience from which to learn and grow.

I stumbled upon Team Slovakia's eliteprospects page, showing one retired number: 38.

Then I found a Slovakian website with a video interview where he mentioned Demitra, and this NYT article with Dvorsky and Pekarcik that some here may have seen:

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/466341 ... l-demitra/

“I watched him on YouTube a lot,” Dvorsky says. “He was a spectacular player, an amazing play-maker. He was unbelievable.”

“My mother got a stick from Pav,” Pekarcik says. “I still have it in my room.” “I cried when he died,” Pekarcik says. “I was sitting at the TV and I see the news in Slovakia. It was, for me, not a good experience.”

“It is really cool to be here where he played,” Dvorsky says. “I feel good here. It’s a great environment and great people. So far I love it here.”

“It’s an unbelievable feeling,” Pekarcik adds. “It’s (a) good place for me.”

“That’s why I’m here,” Dvorsky says. “I’m here to make an impression and to just show myself to the people who believe in me. I’m not here just for a hat and a T-shirt.”

Tkachuk has been watching the camp from the bleachers with other Blues staff and says Dvorsky has reminded him of Demitra.

“He definitely has some similarities, the way they’re strong on the puck,” Tkachuk says. “Pav also had an underrated shot. He liked to pass the puck, but when he did shoot, he could rip it. Dvorsky has that ability, where it’s a quick release and the next thing you know it’s in the back of the net.”

Dvorsky blushed when told of Tkachuk’s comparison.

“It’s sick,” he says. “It’s hard to describe. He was such an unbelievable player. It would be amazing to have a career like he had.”

“I’ll just do my absolute best to make the team as soon as possible. That’s the test of every player, but that’s the test every single player wants.”

To be fair, once the team was announced he was rocking there for a minute. he had a 5 game point streak, multiple multi point games including a 3 pointer. But over the last 5 games him and Kyrou have gone incognito.
