Toronto's trade proposal for Schenner

Post by LuvthaBlues »

According to Ek...

Last season at the deadline, Treleving offered:

Easton Cowan - Age 20 -RW 5'11" 185lb. drafted #28 in 2023, former OHL MVP
Ben Danford - Age 19 - RD 6'1" 188lb. drafted #31 in 2024

for

Schenner

But Army said no. Would you have done it?

No way treliving offered that…maybe one but not both. Pretty sure it was Schenn’s call regardless

Yes of course anyone would have accepted it, did Schenn approve? Is this even factual?

I would have made that trade but just like Tim said, that can't be true. I would be happy getting one of those two players back. I would also be happy with a first round pick even though the teams that would make this kind of trade will be drafting low in the first round in a below average draft year.

I would have been happy if that was just for Danford. As others have said though, rumors were that Schenn nixed a trade. Those are just rumors though and he/Army will always be tight-lipped about what really went down.

Word was that Schenn vetoed a trade to the Leafs last year so they clearly offered something. This seems like a lot

Did Army actually ask Schenn for his no trade list? I had not heard that actually happened. I would find it difficult to believe that Toronto would have been a team that Schenn would veto

I am not sure if that was ever reported. There was just a very general and undetailed rumor that Schenn was asked to waive for TOR and he declined because he believed in the group. It was talked about a bit because they went on a run after that of course.

This would make me kinda hate Schenn if true and he vetoed.

I believe Army has said when he talks to the NTC players, he doesn't present them with the opportunity to move until a team has made an offer worth doing that for. So there's no reason in asking Schenn unless there was a legitimate offer in place. That is different from when the Blues are full sellers and someone like Barbashev. Army said he talked to Barbs and said, I'm not trading you for maximum value, I'm going to find you a place where you can win and have success.

So it's possible Toronto offered something worthy. And it was reported Schenn declined a move but they didn't say where because he thought they could do well and he wanted to be here.

Faulk for me. It was the beginning of the end. Horrible and emotional move with zero insight into the pulse of the club

No need to ask Schenn for his no trade list last year - he had a full NTC, so all teams are by default on the list. By rumor, Schenn was asked but declined to waive.

I go back and forth on this, but ultimately my dream would have been to keep as much of the gang together as possible. Would've rather just kept Ed for half the price and give Petro 9mil. No Krug, keep Dunn. Make them choose between Tarasenko, UFA Schwartz (who we should've re-signed), Ed, Sunny, and Blais. No Saad. No Buch.

But alas, we have a decent prospect pool and some good young NHL players, looking to move forward.

Oh and as far as the Shatty trade... This is interesting... Yes, he nixed a deal for Drouin, but the 1st we got for him was used in the deal for Schenn!

Same. Reported deal was for Sanheim who has turned into a helluva Dman. Playing for Canada in the Olympics
