Re: GDT Tigers vs Wildcats
I know this isn’t a powerhouse Kentucky team, but any win in Rupp is a great win. Remember North Carolina won a similar game this year to hand Kentucky their only home loss.
This team isn’t perfect, but it’s mostly healthy and is just good enough. Might be a tourney team after all.
I do wonder what Burns could bring. I do thing that Porter would help as well. Neither of those guys have to be stars.
Now that we have Pierce and Stone back, we have enough athleticism to compete and win games like this. They’re major difference makers.

How did the team that played against Florida and Kentucky get doubled up by Illinois? Stone and Pierce need to stay on the floor the rest of the year.

They have talent, but they act like they are mad at Pope or something. I know that the fans are, they booed as much as I have ever heard at any school, except KU vs. MU in COMO. I don't think Pope makes it through the season unless they turn around fast.11WSChamps wrote: ↑07 Jan 2026 20:17 pm Great win always on the road.
Does anyone believe this Kentucky team makes the tournament?
Re: GDT Tigers vs Wildcats
Pierce had 3 key boards in the last minute. It top out on the FT miss, the rebounds on the missed layup, then the rebound on the missed 3. Those were key to the last minute of play,Armchair QB wrote: ↑07 Jan 2026 19:23 pm Pierce is a fantastic defensive player. Not super strong inside, but he’s even improved in there. But just a long athletic perimeter defender and great instincts.
There’s an obvious difference when he’s on the floor.

Coach made some good roster decisions tonight.
The right guys were out there at right times and came through.
Hopefully they are building something good fella's.

Yeah right guys had the ball at the end of the game. Stone, Mitchell and Robinson although he did miss the free throw but still.
Guys knowing their roles late made the difference.
Re: GDT Tigers vs Wildcats
Agree. Also played with a shorter bench which I think helps kids stay in the flow of the game. We may have been playing too many players before SEC play and could not get in rhythm.

First game I can recall us winning with Pat Adams reffing. He hates Mizzou almost as much as Ed Hightower did

They tried. Fouls were lopsided and not because Kentucky wasn’t playing physical.abnerdoubled wrote: ↑07 Jan 2026 20:37 pm First game I can recall us winning with Pat Adams reffing. He hates Mizzou almost as much as Ed Hightower did
Re: GDT Tigers vs Wildcats
The worst part is I thought the other guy was making the bad call against us. Tough to win on road in SECabnerdoubled wrote: ↑07 Jan 2026 20:37 pm First game I can recall us winning with Pat Adams reffing. He hates Mizzou almost as much as Ed Hightower did
Re: GDT Tigers vs Wildcats
Had to go away and just caught up with the 2nd half. What a finish! Down 8 with about 4 minutes left and come back at Rupp? Wow.
Had to overcome the Cats and the refs, too, of course. Some of those fouls on the Tigers were not. And Mitchell got absolutely mauled toward the end with no call. Pat Adams gonna Pat Adams. I think Doug Shows is on that crew as well. He's just as bad.
'Tis a season again with Stone and Pierce back. And no Mack. And much less Northweather.

As bad as he appears to play, the Tigers were +13 with him on the floor.

No quit in this team!
IF we could shoot FT's. IF we didn't have the ugly end of half. IF the calls were fair....
I wouldn't have been anxious & yelling at the TV for the last few minutes.
Refs have to give a coach that goes batshot on them a Tech, but if you're the KY coach you get the next 20 calls.
