Literally anyone if they were available. 4th line player plays 8-12 min a game. He’s there to rest your top 9. Thats it. God people quit treating him like he’s a star!

I don't believe you will find a player or coach who would agree with you. It's a pretty stunning comment.

Toro is a needed piece on any Cup contender,
and found on most teams ahl clubs. So, yeah for us. It takes smart management to see the potential in this veteran team of old dogs and future top line defensive talent.
While knowing we will fight hard for every turtle third we make our way in. I can't help but to ponder. Who is fooling who.

I think Torop is very overrated by the fanbase, but I don't actually have much problem with this extension. Unlikely to block any youth or impact the cap much for just 2 years, and he is a heart and soul guy.

That said, I really want to see him develop even more in his role, and I'm not really even talking about goal production. I think him getting back to his career high is kind of a pipe-dream, but I would love to see him learn to be more productively disruptive and add some nasty to his game. For as big and fast as he is, I don't feel like the opposition concerns themselves with him too much. He should be more like McCarron on Nashville. His build and skillset should make him the kind of guy every opposing fanbase hates.

Might not have it in him at this point in his career, but that's what I'd like to see even more than squeezing out a few more goals a year.

Id rather have guys on my team who dump the puck in and skate in circles.

Torp is what he is. Every team would like a big, fast skater who at least tries to check and doesn't take games off. I also don't view him much differently than Joseph. If they we're our two 4th line wingers, that would be fine but we're not getting much offense out of them generally. They'll pk, skate fast, deliver some hits.

Jaskin 2.0, and just as soft. Remember this is the guy who couldn't handle all 5'9" of Yanni Gourde and the guy who got beat to death by heavyweight pugilist Kotkaniemi. Again, the money isn't the issue, its the fact he'll clog up a spot for 2 more seasons.

Justin Sourdif 3rd round pick Caps. Makes league min. Currently playing 14 min a night close comp to Torpo. 5 point night against the Ducks last night. Has 18 pts in 42 games. Speed 6’2 bottom 6 minutes. That’s the difference between bad talent evaluation and cap management and good. He’s 23 Torpo 27.

What do you think he'll make at age 27?

If he sucks he won’t be in the league at 27. That’s where Torpo is. No team in the league but the Blues signs him to that contract.

Monty had the perfect thing to say about Torpo. He had no idea the contract was getting done. But what he said about Torpo was that the guy brings it every day. He's always got a positive outlook on the situation. You have to have these guys who want to be here just as bad as the team wants to keep them. At 2.5m that's pennies on the dollar. We aren't losing hockey games because Torpedo. We are losing hockey games because our top end guys forgot how to score.

Use Kyrou for example. Since he came back, 1 point in 5 games. prior to that, he had his 8 game stretch where he had 8 points. Outside of those 8 games where he put up a point a night. The model of inconsistency. Schenner, 4 in the last 7. Prior to that, he had a 6 game stretch of 0 points. 1 point in his last 4. Buchy has 12 in his last 16. But prior to that we all know how the season has gone.

We aint losing because of Torpedo or a Joseph.

The point is, you give 2.5/yr to Torp, we were paying Tex 2.1 before we were able to dump him, whatever Joseph is making….those numbers add up with not much to show for it

33% of your 3/4 lines are making $4.5M. Extrapolate that to $13.5M for your bottom 2 lines of a $97M cap. Thats 13% spent on your bottom 2 lines.

They’re last in the league in scoring. Part of the reason is your bottom 6 produces next to nothing to supplement the top 6. He’s part of that. So you double down and extend him? I say again nobody in the league signs him for that money.

The point you are missing though is that its not like we turned better players away to sign those contracts. Cap space don't score goals.
