Lol, Swedens' WJC-U20 team has 17 NHL draft picks plus Bjorck, Stenberg and the majority of those will play in the NHL and a handful of those have star potential. We could list Canada too but you get the point.BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑06 Jan 2026 10:52 amPump the brakes - he's playing against kids and people that won't even make the AHL.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑06 Jan 2026 10:45 am ive heard a few times nationally that Jiricek should play NHL next season

Right on - I guess Dean will be in the NHL any day now since he played for the U20 team....maybe Ty Rattie can give him some advice (another U20 player)...Harry S Deals wrote: ↑06 Jan 2026 11:34 amLol, Swedens' WJC-U20 team has 17 NHL draft picks plus Bjorck, Stenberg and the majority of those will play in the NHL and a handful of those have star potential. Lol, dumb comment but yeah Dean has a decent shot at the NHL roster he needs to put it back together. Re: Jiricek
It's hard to judge Fowlers play this year. He's had to babysit Mailloux. To me that's not on him. And if anything is a growing point for the team. If they can better throughout the season, you have a logical pairing next year. My hope is that we have that pairing continue to get better. And next year we can roll Theo Lindstein into a pairing with Faulk and keep Tucker as the 7th. Then you can make the decision on Jiricek moving forward.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑06 Jan 2026 10:45 am I think at this point Faulk may be moved to make room for Jiricek. Still dont think the Blues will sell low on Faulk because they dont have to but ive heard a few times nationally that Jiricek should play NHL next season
For me i think Fowler is the one that has to go, 4 team no trade list this year, NTC next year just dont like his level of play right now and Lindstein may be able to upgrade this spot next year.
Re: Jiricek
Did someone say Jiricek "will be in the NHL any day now"? Very possible he plays in the NHL next season. I don't know about replacing Faulk but make the roster? Sure.BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑06 Jan 2026 11:37 amRight on - I guess Dean will be in the NHL any day now since he played for the U20 team....maybe Ty Rattie can give him some advice (another U20 player)...Harry S Deals wrote: ↑06 Jan 2026 11:34 amLol, Swedens' WJC-U20 team has 17 NHL draft picks plus Bjorck, Stenberg and the majority of those will play in the NHL and a handful of those have star potential. Re: Jiricek
He'll be 20 in June my guess was he starts in the AHL and plays in the NHL '26-'27 i believe this sentiment was echoed during the WJC broadcastskilles wrote: ↑06 Jan 2026 14:46 pmDid someone say Jiricek "will be in the NHL any day now"? He’s that good.zamadoo wrote: ↑06 Jan 2026 05:29 amI thought Buium was too much like a defenseman version of Carbonneau and wouldn't translate into quality NHL D without significant improvement, and so far that is correct. Jiricek was a young one in his draft who I wanted over Buium. I agree that I'd be just fine with a -11 20pt guy at this point, but he'd probably be like -100 on this teamskilles wrote: ↑06 Jan 2026 00:09 amIve always like the Jiricek pick but no reason to down play Buium, he just turned 20 and has 18 points in his first 41 NHL games. We'd be thrilled with that if we picked him but the fact of the matter is he wasn't on the board when we picked so we picked Jiricek who is looking pretty (drat) good as well. Who knows which ones ends up being better but I'm sure Buium would also be dominant at the jr level right now.Bubble4427 wrote: ↑05 Jan 2026 19:08 pmYou DID NOT score a goal. Buium is 7 months older than Jiricek. Buium is a -11 in 41 career games.
Sorry, but I think I’d rather wait a little longer and have Jiricek. He’s got the better all around game and I really don’t think it’s close.
Currently I'd be thrilled to have either one.![]()
