How do the DNC tags work?
I get what it means but how does a kid already have a Do Not Contact tag on the first day of the portal and accept an offer shortly after opening?
That would indicate tampering, yes?

It's widely assumed that agents are negotiating behind the scenes with teams preferred by the players.Rollin' on the River wrote: ↑05 Jan 2026 09:34 am How do the DNC tags work?

Yeah, coaches and staff are banned from contact with players and their reps but a guy knows a guy who passes along salary demands and offers. Could be another agent or a friend, even a teammate. Business gets done. It's widely assumed that agents are negotiating behind the scenes with teams preferred by the players.
Re: “Do Not Contact”
I saw where over 4500 football players are 'in the portal', and yet fewer than a 3rd (say 1500) will get an offer from D1 FBS. What happens to the other +3,000? Go to FCS or D3?
Re: “Do Not Contact”
Or go home and hang out and wait for the next opportunity. Maybe even get a job.

Not if the player tells his agent, "See if Mizzou is interested in my services and if so, what kind of deal can they make?"Rollin' on the River wrote: ↑05 Jan 2026 13:06 pmSo that’s tampering….edwin drood wrote: ↑05 Jan 2026 11:47 amIt's widely assumed that agents are negotiating behind the scenes with teams preferred by the players.Rollin' on the River wrote: ↑05 Jan 2026 09:34 am How do the DNC tags work?

Re: “Do Not Contact”
Wait. I thought you could make contact and even go as far as saying school A is interested, but you just can’t talk $.jcgmoi wrote: ↑05 Jan 2026 12:29 pmYeah, coaches and staff are banned from contact with players and their reps but a guy knows a guy who passes along salary demands and offers. Re: “Do Not Contact”
I was talking about contacting players and teams getting a deal in place before the portal opened. I'm not sure now what I was replying to earlier and I'm too rushed to check now. It's possible I was wrong.
