Re: Torp extended
this is a good signing and probably a hair better than what we thought it would be 2 years ago. With the cap going up, he was definitely going to be able to test 3m. His goal scoring has stopped tho. Hopefully he finds that part of his game. Their line has turned it on lately. I think him and Joseph as 4th liners is actually an interesting problem you can present the other teams. 4th line guys that have real speed and size. I know a lot more people view Walker higher than I do, but those 2 are people you have to circle at the end of the day if they are on the 4th line. Walker is just someone who brings good energy (which both Joseph and Torpo do).
I remember someone whether it was JR or Kirbs said that Holloway and Broberg probably weren't going to start the negotiating until around January. i hope the ball gets rolling there. It would be nice to have a clearer picture of what we will be working with and what needs to get ironed out on those top lines to figure out this scoring drought we are in.

I love Torop. Mostly for the potential of what he could be. If he simply repeated what he did 2 years ago each season, this would be a bargain.
Seems a little high, though, imo, but wth do I know.

I wouldn't sign anything long-term with Holloway right now. Definitely not until after the season and he's back from injury, fully healthy, and he's shown last year wasn't just a flash in the pan, unless it's a bargain. These injuries are very concerning. You have to know what you've got and who knows what Holloway's going to be after this latest injury.callitwhatyouwant wrote: ↑05 Jan 2026 11:49 am this is a good signing and probably a hair better than what we thought it would be 2 years ago. Everyone thought Fabbri would be the next Demitra after his rookie campaign. Good thing Blues didn't sign him long-term back then.

Wonder if some of his resigning is we simply don't have many people with his mentality in the locker room. Wish a couple of our stars acted like him.
Re: Torp extended
Good for Alexey! Whatever he drank on New Year's Eve, he came out like a cannon in this New Year. Maybe a rabid dog based on his postgame interview.
Re: Torp extended
with the cap going up, I think 2M+ is going to be the norm for 4th line guys going forward

Re: Torp extended
Two years ago he had 14 goals and if I remember right he was being moved up and down the line up. The last two years he spent the majority of his time on the 4th line with either Faska or Sunny as his center. Both centers best offensive days are behind them.
Re: Torp extended
He brings nothing a good scouting department couldn't find for half that money.
The cap going up doesn't mean you can p#ss away money.
A big, fast, straight line skater that doesn't finish checks, has offensive zero talent, is part of one of the worst PK in the league the last few years is not an asset.
It's simply a waste of money.

Just baffling. A JAG you can get off the waiver wire at any given time. Screams more mediocrity. Wonder if Steen was involved with this or it was shoved down his throat.gpe13579 wrote: ↑05 Jan 2026 12:53 pm He brings nothing a good scouting department couldn't find for half that money.

Re: Torp extended
Torp = Gino Cavallini
Gino had some decent scoring years, but offense was up back when he played.
He was also on Hull's line off and on throughout his career.
Their games are almost identical in every way.
2.5 million now is kinda like a 750K back then....I don't think Gino ever pulled in that much coin in a year.

He was 18th in hits last year. He's 6'6" 220 lbs and can skate.Bacchk29 wrote: ↑05 Jan 2026 13:13 pmJust baffling. A JAG you can get off the waiver wire at any given time. Screams more mediocrity. Yeah, it might be a tad high. But you're not finding a replacement for half that price...

LOL
There are people on here who will literally complain about anything this organization does.

I wasn't complaining but I was pointing out a very accurate comparison.Jeff Goldblum wrote: ↑05 Jan 2026 13:25 pm LOL

Re: Torp extended
Good signing. He has size and a good work ethic and his skill will improve with minutes. I still don't think our coaching staff is bringing out the best in our players- especially guys like Torpo.
