Is Robinson becoming a premier point guard?

It seems he's made some amazing progress since his freshman season.

He is one of my favorite all-time Tiger basketball players. If we ranked players based on their defensive talents rather than offensive ones, he’d rank as one of the best defensive guards we’ve ever had. He should have had more PT his freshman year. He makes mistakes but generally, imho he’s a fantastic player.

The guy is good, no doubt, but wildly inconsistent, hopefully this is the year it all comes together and he stops disappearing for long stretches. He is prone to one on one battles with the opposing guard that takes him off his game and hurts the team.

I think few can doubt his physical abilities. The problem is his immaturity. We have all seen him lose his cool, pick up unnecessary fouls, force passes, take ill advised shots. Robinson is a physical specimen. Good size, athletically gifted but he will never reach his potential until he is able to control his emotions.

He should be looking to move to the next level (NBA) but is not prepared to do so because he can’t get over what is holding him back.

And no reason to believe he won't keep improving.

Yeah, that obvious chicken wing offensive foul late in the Florida game 30 feet from the hoop is not what is needed from your PG in a tight game. He just loses his composure. And opponents probably know that and bait him.

Quick hands but seldom beats his defender with quick feet and a breakaway move, good rebounder, inconsistent shooter but depending on how the refs are calling the game a great defender with those quick hands

He made a jump freshman to sophomore year. I really thought coming into this season we might lose him to the draft this summer. But he hasn’t improved physically or on the court since last season. And his emotions do get out of control too much.

He’s capable of being elite, but he doesn’t appear to have put in the work this past off season. With a fantastic couple of freshmen coming in at shooting guard, small forward next year, Robinson has a chance to lead and become an All American PG next year. I hope he stays and I hope he REALLY works.
