Selling off our veterans - Be prepared to LOSE draft picks
I see that many on BluesTalk hope for a sell-off of our veterans (Buchnevich, etc). I suspect that the hope is that we get draft capital in return. This is certainly what happens in most NHL cities during a sell-off. The St Louis roster is NOT LIKE other rosters around the league.
Let me be the first to remind you. Never forget what happened with Kevin Hayes.
To get rid of him and his contract, Army had to trade away draft picks. We lost, not gained.
Summary:
A Buchnevich selloff will be 10x more expensive to get rid of than the contract of Kevin Hayes.
Be prepared to LOSE draft picks, not GAIN draft picks.

You may be the biggest loser I have never met.
It’s the same (bleep) every day.
The top 5 pick convo next?
Are you really this desperate for attention?
Please just show yourself instead of hiding behind a monitor. Let’s meet up for a beer and let me meet this sad figure.
Bet you won’t, bc you know you are as awful as we all think.

Once again your premise is weak or flawed. You ASSUME Army (or Steen) is chomping at the bit to get rid of Buchnevich or any other veteran at any cost. I wouldn't bet too much money on that.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑03 Jan 2026 11:31 am I see that many on BluesTalk hope for a sell-off of our veterans (Buchnevich, etc). You really just can’t help yourself. Like it or not, the Blues should be looking into a Kyrou value trade. I truly believe that now is the time to move Schenn and Faulk. They both are playing well and their value is as good as it’s going to get. In a couple of years when the Blues are a viable team again, Schenn and Faulk will be near the end. It’s not going to cost us to move them now. We should take advantage of their current value.

Wait a minute. You are seriously comparing our possible veteran trade pieces to KEVIN HAYES ?! Who the Blues picked up off the trash heap for a 6th round draft pick ?! Bwahaha - your posting drivel is hilarious ! Surely there are better things to occupy your time than this nonsense.
Re: Selling off our veterans - Be prepared to LOSE draft picks
Next year appears to be the sweet spot. If they gut this team too soon they could cast the young players into an utterly hopeless environment. There is no need to do that, there is still a rational meticulous transition path in play. Check contract status for more details.Whatashame wrote: ↑03 Jan 2026 11:50 am You really just can’t help yourself. Like it or not, the Blues should be looking into a Kyrou value trade. Faulk leads the team in goals. You wont have to attach a pick to him. You might for Sunny or Joseph. Schenn no! They wont trade Buch or Kryou in season..
Who would they realistically trade that they would have to a pick?

Ask Blues fans what veteran they would want to sell off.DawgDad wrote: ↑03 Jan 2026 11:43 amOnce again your premise is weak or flawed. 9 out of 10 would #1 want to get rid of Buchnevich (Low Hockey IQ, Getting worse by the day and signed for 5 more years)
Is it unreasonable to think that Blues management would love to get rid of him too?

Sorry. I've gotten too many death threats. It's never safe to be the messenger.diehardbluesfan1 wrote: ↑03 Jan 2026 11:43 am You may be the biggest loser I have never met.

Re: Selling off our veterans - Be prepared to LOSE draft picks
Hayes was Army's attempt to be one of the guys, you know, the trend of GMs who were trading picks with players, it was a needless move. Buch will have someone who wants him, and if not, keep him around until you can find a partner. The money is in Schenn, Faulk, and Parayko, those are the ones who need to go and sadly I don't trust Army to get the best value for them or worse, not trade them at all because we won yesterday; therefore, we're a Cup contender in his mind. The disconnect is real.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑03 Jan 2026 11:31 am I see that many on BluesTalk hope for a sell-off of our veterans (Buchnevich, etc). Re: Selling off our veterans - Be prepared to LOSE draft picks
Trust. Pondering that, there is NO hurry to trade these guys. A GM worthy of trust recognizes this and acts accordingly. If a team wants one or more of these guys THIS season the return needs to be top-shelf young talent, young guys who can step into top-6 or top-4 roles as team leaders for years. Blues would be trading 2026 deep playoff run assets for guys who might not have enough experience to be entrusted to that extent just yet. Otherwise, no sale.smilinjoefission wrote: ↑03 Jan 2026 12:52 pmHayes was Army's attempt to be one of the guys, you know, the trend of GMs who were trading picks with players, it was a needless move. Again with the Hayes chit! How bad do you think that one mediocre dude hurt them? The Krug contract was way worse...by a mile.
