To an old guy like me, it's a bit like Woodstock. The record industry drove the outdoor mega-concert into the ground trying to recreate the magic of Woodstock. The NHL has done the same to outdoor hockey trying to recreate the magic of that Sid Crosby snow globe in Buffalo in 2008

meh.. think it's the league trying to grow the sport in weaker markets.

I expected Bettman to enlist James Cameron's sfx team so that we could see fake "cold breath" from the players and coaches - just like in "Titanic".

I agree. Us hosting one was as dumb as any of these. It freaking rained and nobody cared. Why put it in a place that doesn't snow? It should be limited to northern cities only.
