2026 is Donny still Fire Hot
We made through the too soon and premature right after WS November
We slid right through the Action Jackson Winter Meetings
We sleigh rode through Santa and Happy New Year
Soon Pitchers and Catchers will be reporting and Hottest trade available player who was guaranteed to bring back those certain high level prospects to start this Rebuild/Reset/Launch/Slowburn or whatever your favorite naming shall be….
Is still a Redbird and now I’m hearing we don’t really need to trade this HOT HOT HOT commodity
Are we feeling different now in 2026?

I think everyone is waiting on the Bregman signing. Once that happens other deals will start popping off. I think Bregman has a lot of Aaron Rodgers in him where he likes everyone to talk about him, so he delays anything happening as a big ego boost. Knowing his decision is holding up a lot of movement.Goldfan wrote: ↑02 Jan 2026 15:11 pm We made through the too soon and premature right after WS November

The odds of him still being here increase by the day. Even more so with Nado. Entirely possible no one wants him. We went thru this last off-season with Nado and some were sure he’d be gone.
Might be time to pivot to a Gorman trade.

This is what people said last year. Waiting on Bergman again. Even when he got signed Nado didn’t move.brock118 wrote: ↑02 Jan 2026 15:19 pmI think everyone is waiting on the Bregman signing. They did have a Houston trade but Arenado passed. It's a slow FA market. Things should pick up post-holidays and those who miss the big targets will pivot to Donovan. Whether they meet the Cardinal asking price is another matter.Carp4Cy wrote: ↑02 Jan 2026 15:23 pmThis is what people said last year. Waiting on Bergman again. My money is still on Donovan moving (and Arenado). I promise when he does I won't post into perpetuity reminding everyone that he really did have a market.

+1 bloom would be stupid to rush to trade Donovan and also some are so stupid they think because a lot of teams are interested in a player that means they will immediately pay whatever the trading team demands so they can get him. That’s like saying oh it was reported that skubal is available for trade and lot of teams are interested but he hasn’t been traded yet so that means those are lies and teams don’t really want skubalTalkin' Baseball wrote: ↑02 Jan 2026 15:31 pm My money is still on Donovan moving (and Arenado). HOTTEST- many teams desire this player and will pay the the price so other teams do not get this player
NOT REALLY HOTTEST-teams would like to have this player but not willing to meet a ransom price as player really isn’t difference maker and it’s not a big deal if another lands him.

and I don't think that any team that has been connected to Donovan has done anything.
What is the highest Cardinals prospect that we would want to part with in a Donovan trade?
Certainly not JJ right? Mathews? This is where the Cards situation is with Donnie. They are
waiting to see which team blinks in giving up a Mathews or adds a legit sweetener
to the deal whether that's an upgrade in the secondary piece or an additional add.
Donnie doesn't open the door to pieces like JJ that teams don't want to part with.
I got to think Bloom is waiting for a small change in an offer or a team that pivots from
the higher tier player that has the preferred trade piece,

Ok, well one person made a careless comment. No that is stupid. So you’re saying no one is interested in skubal the cy young and he’s not a hot commodity because teams would have traded whatever the tigers demanded to get him if they were really interested? That’s just dumb. GMs don’t keep their jobs by trading immediately whatever players other teams want from them to get a trade done that’s just dumb. I guess skubal isn’t a difference maker either lolGoldfan wrote: ↑02 Jan 2026 15:55 pmA little Clarity around the differences of “Hottest Trade Commodity” and “Not really Hottest Trade commodity”Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑02 Jan 2026 15:37 pm+1 bloom would be stupid to rush to trade Donovan and also some are so stupid they think because a lot of teams are interested in a player that means they will immediately pay whatever the trading team demands so they can get him.
