writer HATES the hire as much as I do with ole Chip doing absolutely NOTHING of note during his career. In most of his jobs offense was worse in his time there even with a Drake Maye for a couple of years. All of his offenses were plodding, boring affairs where he emphasized running the ball but his explosiveness numbers were TERRIBLE.
So basically what Eli hired was in his mind the safe choice who did what he did in career as OC. BORING mostly ineffective sideways passes and very few vertical long passes. oh joy.
To me it looks like Eli has given up competing effectively in SEC and just getting to a bowl is the goal, not the playoffs or beating the big brands.
literally Chip is the most ineffective guy out there on the market PERIOD among anyone from a top program. Oh joy so no matter who they bring in Portal it simply won't matter. No where he has been has he been a difference maker. He is like Drink Just a Guy collecting a huge paycheck with little to show for it.
Eli's rep as nobody and will beat the blood donors but not compete against the better teams. Who will be the main team you root for going forward and only having Tigers as your side team?
With me it's Indiana all the way. cignetti is the new Nick Saban. Ole Miss is my SEC team.

Re: Rock m Nation article has the receipts on new OC
I just looked into this yesterday. Michigan was AWFUL on offense in 2024. This season with a true freshman, mistake prone QB (albeit very talented) and a head coach who might have been meddling Michigan was solid. So improvement there.
At NC, he coached Maye in ‘23 and the offense overall was about the same as it was prior (Maye’s numbers went down, but it became more balanced. Then with a new QB in ‘24 the offense took a step back but was respectable. WAY better than it was this past season.
So I don't think there’s reason for alarm. Maybe not reason for us to expect well average 40 per game. But he seems competent, he does like the run game which fits our current strength, and he has coached a couple blue chip QB’s in the last 3 years (one in the NFL now).
Drink just needs to get out of his way and let him come here and go to work.
