Misery Loves Company
You think it's bad here?
How about Winnipeg?
What a mess in Manitoba.
The Jets are on a 7 game losing streak with a healthy roster.
They can't get any scoring outside of their first line.
The feel good story of signing hometown boy Toews with the possibility of him becoming their long lost 2C has turned into the reality of a rusty 37+ center that produces 4th line points.
All of their centers are old:
Scheifele will be 33 soon
Namestnikov is 33
Toews is pushing 38
Lowry is pushing 33
Only 11 goals and 14 assists combined from their centers not named Scheifele.
Do they have a legit center prospect?
Yager has struggled in his first pro season.
Just about every forward outside of their 1st line has underperformed compared to last year.
Perfetti has produced near nothing. Is he playing with a lingering injury?
Speaking of nothing: How did that Nyquist signing turn out? Zero goals.
Was Ehlers that important to this team?
Connor will be 30 early next season when that 8X12 kicks in.
That contract will age horribly.
The Jets have a decent veteran d corp.
The Jets are sitting 10th in shots against and are middle of the pack in save%
The lack of (timely) scoring has killed them.
6 of their last 7 games in the current losing streak were by one goal.
Hellebuyck has been only average to slightly above average this year and missed time with his first significant injury.
No shutouts yet for a goalie that is always good for at least 4 a year.
The Jets goal differential isn't horrible (-8) for a team that has won only 15 of their 38 games.
Detroit is -3 but have a 24-17 record.
San Jose is -15 but are 20-20
Last year the Jets won 56 games.
They won 52 the year prior.
Do they try to acquire a forward or two soon for their top 6 and try to go on a heater?
Or, do they try to sell a few guys at the TDL if they're out of it?

And beating us in game 7 will last a long time…and apparently has done more damage to the psyche of this team than we will ever know.TheHighHat wrote: ↑01 Jan 2026 09:39 am You think it's bad here?

Relative deprivation. Their window has passed. And the goalie's best years are likely behind him.TheHighHat wrote: ↑01 Jan 2026 09:39 am You think it's bad here?

I feel bad for their fans. At least we have the Cardinals...Oh, wait?

It has been a big surprise to me. I really love the way some of their guys play, specifically Lowry and Connor. I’d root for them over a Colorado or Dallas all day, everyday. Will be curious to see if they come out of it or if they stay near the bottom.

Yeah, the Jets are on the struggle bus right now with Hellebuyck fighting it. Kinda feel for Scheifele, Connor, and Vilardi — those three are absolute gamers.
If the Jets can get their defense sorted out, they’ll be right back in it. That said, I’m sure half the fanbase wouldn’t mind sneaking into a top-5 pick either… just sayin’

I think I'd want them to sell if I were a Jets fan.

No. They have few good prospects.
Their top 2 forward prospects are both in their first pro year and are not exactly lighting it up.
8 of their top 12 forwards are 30+
4 of their top 6 d-men are 30+
Both goalies are over 30
Many of them are signed for a while, so it looks like the Jets are going to be stuck in that doom loop of mediocre at best results for a handful of years.
Sort of a cross between the Kings & Pens.

What a Mess.
Yesterday they mention on NHL on the Fly on the NHL Network. .
How the Jets went from.1st overall Last year by winning the President Trophy to dead Last this year in the NHL right now with only 34 points.
Last night they had a 4 to 1 lead on the Maple Leafs and loss the game 6 to 5.
They also said they just went to their 1st 8 game losing streak since 2008 with their loss last night.
