No kidding. Outshot 43-13, and Binnington is the problem? This team is trash.
Re: Monty Chose Binnington for this game
They didn’t want to hurt Hofer’s growing confidence by throwing him to the wolves knowing they were likely to get thumped like they did.
Re: Monty Chose Binnington for this game
Yes to JoshinFenton and Cajanek-Spielmacher above and to you. I did not watch the game, will go ahead and erase the tape. But I can only assume what I missed.
I'm not going so far as to say the "team is trash," but it sure smells bad, so I won't argue the sentiment. 6-1 L versus 4-3 L...a loss is a loss. And CO is firing on all cylinders and like every team can smell blood in the water. Maybe it's good to get blown out and so obviously embarrassed?
Have to aggressively get numbers to the center of the ice in between the dots...all the way to the opponent's net. Have to quit quitting. Stop the minor league passing to the boards once inside the blue line, or the dump and change...I could go on and on.
I said it in another thread...Don't give up, don't blow it up, but shake it up with a wake-up Trade. The vets are too comfortable, give the hungry ones some hope and a jolt.
And as a Blues fan, I couldn't care less about the Olympics, whom got picked, whose feelings might be hurt. I guess the only thing I like about it is that maybe some players whom are not in it and whom may have some nagging strains & sprains will get rested and physical therapy and a reset...
It ain't over, but the Fat Lady is warming up her voice.

Goat: The top-6 came out flat and embarrassed themselves badly in the first half of the first period, and it didn't get much better. Aside from the weird first goal Avs scoring goals were wide open, uncovered, blasting away unchecked. These are world-class passers and snipers, unimpeded it was a shooting gallery. They actually scored another similar goal that was called back for goaltender interference. The outcome was entirely on the top-6.
Re: Monty Chose Binnington for this game
Going to be interesting to see how the goalies are playing approaching the Olympics and what Sullivan and Company will do.
Re: Monty Chose Binnington for this game
Okay, maybe they're not trash but getting close to it. Scoring fewer than 2.5 goals per game is pretty pathetic.Old_Goat wrote: ↑01 Jan 2026 09:07 amYes to JoshinFenton and Cajanek-Spielmacher above and to you. Yet they are 3 points out of wild card slot. This has to be the weirdest year of NHL hockey.
We had friends over for New Years Eve. I didn't watch the game but I was checking on the score. At one point I looked at the clock and it was 8:13. I looked at the score and it was already 1-0 nothing and thought "Well that was fast". When I looked at Twitter Lou posted "well that was fast".
Sometime later we ended up outside on our porch around our firepit. I heard our neighbors give out an unenthusiastic "yeah". I guess that's when the Blues scored their lone goal.

nit all those games were on the team. people will say the team looks worse based on the goalie letting goals in when they have a much more positive opinion of team if goalie dtands on his head.stlblue06 wrote: ↑31 Dec 2025 21:46 pm .815 on Dec. 1st

4 out of 5 of his most recent games in November were below .900
In these 10 games the Blues have given up more than 30 shots TWICE!! 31 shots on Nov 14th vs Philly and 31 shots vs NYR last week!
In all but ONE bleeping game all month the Blues have looked like they have tonight in every single game that Binnington has been in net. Soft team but why do they play with confidence when Hofer is in net?
binner was bad in previous games. this game was truly bith. binner wasnt good but we were outshot 43 13 and were not likely to win this game no matter what goalie was in net. but other games binner started that wasnt the case. but at least we got hofer rest in a game we wouldnt have won anyways
