Monty Chose Binnington for this game

Post by stlblue06 »

.815 on Dec. 1st
.885
.760
.935
.765 on Dec. 22nd

4 out of 5 of his most recent games in November were below .900

In these 10 games the Blues have given up more than 30 shots TWICE!! 31 shots on Nov 14th vs Philly and 31 shots vs NYR last week!

In all but ONE bleeping game all month the Blues have looked like they have tonight in every single game that Binnington has been in net. Soft team but why do they play with confidence when Hofer is in net?

Don't think Glen Hall at the top of his game would have made any difference tonight. Good idea to rest Hofer.

Hofer can’t start them all and the Blues realistically weren’t winning this game even if it wasn’t a clown show

I thought they looked like garbage on Monday and Binnington wasn’t in goal that night. Just that the difference is between playing the Sabres at home and the Avs on the road.

I know that, my point was that Monty increased the chances the Blues would get completely embarrassed by a large margin by starting Binner.

Plus Binnington and CO have a history for years and there was the end of last season with 2-3 Ws. CO clearly came out like a motivated team. I don’t think they come out like that if Hofer is in net.

The Sabres are right behind the Avs for toughest teams to play right now. Buffalo just blew out Dallas in Dallas for their 10th in a row. Nobody had come close to doing that all season.

If Binnington was in net on Monday that game is easily 7-1 as it would have been over before it started.

I heard on LGB radio that Binnington has historically had pretty good luck against Colorado, that is probably why.

Maybe Monty was seizing on Binner just getting named an Olympian.

He was 3-0 against them last season. Don’t have a problem with starting him. We were losing this game with any goalie in the world in there.

The fact that Binner has been so good against CO clearly gave them motivation. They had something to prove against him.

The problem is that this isn’t your normal CO team and this is the worst version of Binnington.

I would have liked to see the Blues with a solid nhl goalie in net tonight but nope

I'm not really convinced that Hofer in net is any better in this one. 4-1? 5-1? whats really the difference? I actually thought Binner was solid given the waves of pressure that were unrelenting and the folding chairs in front of him.

Team is playing completely backwards of what won them games down the stretch last year. Colorado is playing the way the blues should be attacking the net every game. They won't play at the same level as Colorado while doing it, but can't convince me that quality over quantity has done us any good this season.

Frack all the B hate. 2 PERIODS in the book and 7 SOG + lowest shot total of the year. Is Binnington subpar this season? That is a resounding Hell yes!

What a dumb thread. Did anyone actually think this result was going to be different with or without Binnington in net?

Binnie gets up for the big games, so they were blabbing on the talk heads hyperbole show.

Does anyone else see the dilemma?

Binnington is a big-game, clutch goalie, but how many years are the Blues away from being in a meaningful big game? At least 3.
